Cardano Founder Says Lace Wallet Is Integrating Xrp

Cardano founder Charles Hoskinson has confirmed that users will soon be able to store, send, and receive XRP using the Lace Wallet.

This was shared during a recent surprise Ask Me Anything (AMA) session on YouTube, lasting over three hours. The wallet, developed by Cardano’s tech arm Input Output Global (IOG), aims to expand its multi-chain capabilities by adding XRP to its supported assets.

Hoskinson was asked if he was still in talks with Ripple, the company behind XRP. In response, he confirmed that discussions between IOG and Ripple were going well. “Things are moving well,” he said, suggesting past disagreements between both teams may be over. He also revealed that the development team plans to integrate XRP into the Lace Wallet.

Once the integration is complete, users will be able to manage their XRP directly within Lace. This means they can send it, receive it, and hold it just like they would with ADA or Bitcoin. Lace was launched on the Cardano mainnet in April 2023. At first, it only supported Cardano-based assets. However, the wallet has been steadily expanding, recently adding Bitcoin support.

Hoskinson did not provide a specific date for when XRP integration will go live. However, he did confirm that the process is underway. “This is just the beginning,” said Lace General Manager Brandon Wolf. He emphasized that the goal is to make Lace a one-stop wallet for all major blockchains.

In addition to XRP support, Hoskinson also shared that XRP users will be eligible for the upcoming Midnight token airdrop. Midnight is Cardano’s privacy-focused blockchain that supports secure, decentralized apps. Its governance token is NIGHT, and another token called DUST will be used for private transactions.

The NIGHT airdrop will reach 37 million users across eight blockchains, including Bitcoin, Ethereum, Cardano, Solana, Polygon, Binance Smart Chain, Avalanche, and XRP Ledger. Hoskinson reassured users that XRP holders will be part of this plan.
