Of late, social media platform X aka Twitter is flooded with viral videos of President Donald Trump hanging a “Bitcoin Whitepaper” in the Oval Office at the White House. Apparently, the video also features FOX news correspondent Sarah, as Trump unveils a Bitcoin whitepaper portrait at his office.
Of late, President Trump has taken several steps to pander the booming crypto industry in the U.S. that had thoroughly backed him in the 2024 presidential elections. Be it hosting the debut crypto summit at the White House or announcing strategic crypto reserve, Trump has left no stone unturned to please the community.
However, in the age of social media, many a times netizens tend to go overboard on the sentiment and exaggerate things (even by Trump’s standards), perhaps for “engagement farming” through misleading information. The Crypto Times did a fact check analysis of the viral video featuring Trump unveiling Bitcoin White Paper at the Oval Office.
In reality, the video is fake. What we have here is a doctored version of a Fox News segment from The Ingraham Angle, where Trump is showing Sarah the United States Declaration of Independence. It is not the Bitcoin whitepaper.
The claim originated when multiple X users started posting videos and screenshots of the Bitcoin Whitepaper in the Oval Office.
Now the question is how did such a controversial story gain traction? The answer is prominent Crypto handles couldn’t hold it in to share the video with cryptic posts.
Kraken, one of the leading crypto exchanges in the US, was one of them, as it posted the video with the caption “Wait, hollup… #btc white paper spotted at the Whitehouse!?”
The spread of this rumor highlights the challenges of combating misinformation in the cryptocurrency space, where fake news and manipulated media often amplify narratives.
