Will Sam Bankman Fried Be Pardoned By Trump?

A day ahead of the historic Crypto Summit at the White House, an interview of disgraced crypto poster boy Sam Bankman-Fried with popular host Tucker Carlson went live, that has now set speculations running wild- is SBF hoping for a pardon from President Trump?

Sam Bankman Fried, (SBF) former founder of FTX who was sentenced 25 years for fraud, who is still in jail, recently appeared in a popular chat show of Tucker Carlson to talk about his life in prison.

On 6th March, Carlson posted a tweet on X (formerly Twitter ), publishing a video of their chat on his podcast “The Tucker Carlson Show “.

Sam Bankman-Fried who led an $8 billion financial fraud and created FTX and was dubbed crypto’s “prodigy” now awaits possible release from prison after his two-year prison. The new Trump administration displays a lenient attitude toward famous crypto leaders because they pardoned Ross Ulbricht who created the notorious dark web marketplace Silk Road.

One of Donald Trump’s major campaign issues for the 2024 U.S. presidential election was the pardoning of Ross and soon enough, after his thumping victory, Trump granted him a complete pardon following his 13-year prison term.

After this, parents of Sam Bankman-Fried sought assistance from legal representatives who demonstrate ties to Trump lobbyists to plead for clemency for their son following a Bloomberg report. The Stanford Law School professors Joseph Bankman and Barbara Fried discussed in the Bloomberg report expressed optimism about crypto community backing for their son Sam Bankman-Fried in much the same way Ross Ulbricht received support following his Silk Road website.

While talking about life behind the bars, Fried said “ Sort of dystopian “, but mentioned about some of the good people there who’s trying to be helpful as well, he talked about the time he’s getting to read novels, playing chess and utilizing that time to work upon his communication as he believes that he wasn’t good at it when the crisis had hit as he often gets  swept up in details and used to forget how to project the bigger picture.

The Democratic politicians received significant political contributions from Carlson who asked numerous times about their involvement. Bankman-Fried stated he avoided phone calls with politicians while FTX collapsed during the late phase of 2022 because he wanted to maintain ethical boundaries. Bankman-Fried decided to back Republican candidates after observing what he described as “really, really shocking” performances from the Biden administration.

The total financial collapse of FTX represents his “colossal disaster” according to Bankman-Fried who also admitted that failure “by far” outranks any criminal intention in his life

Many observers wonder if SBF could be next for a presidential pardon because he gave this media appearance soon after his family began actively appealing to White House officials. The crypto industry turmoil along with increased scrutiny around his actions makes it doubtful whether SBF will receive a presidential pardon from Trump.

The crypto world will continue to observe Bankman-Fried’s future along with the continued political influence on his behalf by his family members.
