Bandai Namco Halts Gundam Metaverse Downloads

Today, Japanese game publisher Bandai Namco has paused the downloads of its recently launched Gundam Metaverse following concerns that some highly anticipated Gundam models’ design data have leaked.

In an announcement, Bandai Namco said, “We apologize to everyone who has been looking forward to it, but we will notify you on this website once the date and time when you can download it again has been decided.”

According to the website, the Metaverse game became available to the public in the United States and Japan on October 11. However, within a week, Bandai Namco abruptly stopped downloads without elaborating reasons in the statements.

There have been rumors circulating this week that the download included unencrypted design files for some of the models for the upcoming animated movie Gundam Seed Freedom, which is scheduled for release in January 2024, according to pictures shared on Reddit and the Hong Kong news website HK01.
