The Nouns DAO partners with Titan Comics, ComicsDAO, and 4K protocol to launch Nouns-inspired comic books to the blockchain via physically-backed NFTs.
According to the announcement, Nouns DAO is launching a comic series based on Nouns NFTs called “Nouns: Nountown.”
The comic books will be printed in April and then sent to 4K protocol to get securely vaulted, and an NFT will be minted to represent ownership of the physical copy of the book. The owners can use 4K at any time to redeem their NFT for a physical comic.
David Leach, senior editor at Titan Comics, will pen the stories. Danny Schlitz, a well-known illustrator whose credits include Disney, Marvel, Netflix, Warner Brothers, etc, will do the illustrations for comics.
There will be two pre-sales in which the community can take part. The minting passes for the NounsDAO comic books are now live.
The Mosaic collection enables users to gather six issues and compile them into a single large image for the NFT.
The Generative cover collection lets owners completely personalize their covers by switching up Nouns, Assets, Bodies, and Expressions. Additionally, there will be 25 blank covers for the artist to custom-draw anything the owner desires on the actual book.
Both collections will include 420 physical copies produced and saved in 4K, as well as a special NFT that displays a video of each copy’s printing, assembly, and number edition.
ComicsDAO founder Adam Fortier stated “As a comic book industry veteran of over 25 years, I see lots of potential in utilizing comics to generate constant content to keep the Nouns community engaged. We can also bring Nouns to the mass market, which gives Nouns and web3 more credibility while expanding the community.”
These comic books will be available not only through the minting pass but also in comic book shops and bookstores like Barnes & Noble. Each purchaser will be given the opportunity to cast a vote on the series’ plot, writer, and featured Nouns, among other elements.
The Nouns’ intellectual property (IP), which is protected under CC0 licensing, will be expanded via this project. An anonymous co-founder of Nouns claims that the publication of a digital and physical comic book will motivate the community to look for innovative approaches to extending the brand’s creativity.
Nouns DAO is bagging new projects in order to expand its ecosystem as an open-source brand. In December 2022, Nouns NFTs joined the 2023 Rose Parade in collaboration with Stoopid Buddy Stoodios.
