Crypto Ransom Hoax 32 Delhi Schools Targeted by Bomb Threat

At least 32 schools across the national capital were thrown into chaos on Monday after receiving coordinated bomb threats via email. The threatening message, sent by a cyber group calling itself “The Terrorizers 111 Group,” demanded $5,000 in cryptocurrency and claimed to have planted “pipe bombs and advanced explosive devices in multiple school campuses.

The Delhi Police confirmed it was a hoax after thorough search operations found no explosives. “Search operation is completed and nothing suspicious was found,” an officer stated. Cyber forensic teams have now been deployed to trace the sender’s IP address.

Group Claims Data Breach Threatens Immediate Action

The threatening email sent by the group included ominous warnings to evacuate immediately and avoid alerting authorities. “Pay $5,000 in crypto to our Ethereum address within 72 hours, or we will detonate the bombs,” the email warned, as per local reports. “Evacuate now to save lives. We don’t forgive. We don’t forget. Send the money or face the consequences.”

The group also claimed to have hacked into school IT systems, stolen sensitive data belonging to students and staff, and gained control of campus surveillance systems.

The affected schools include Global School, BGS International, Dwarka International, Oxford Foundation in Baba Haridas Nagar, Shri Ram International in Najafgarh, Andhra School in Prasad Nagar, among others, located across Dwarka, New Delhi.

DPS Dwarka promptly took action, considering the safety and well-being of the students, and closed the operation on Monday, issuing a message to parents.

Not the First Threat

This incident is an addition to the wave of bomb hoaxes targeting schools in Delhi in recent months. In July, a series of emails delivered over four consecutive days targeted more than 45 schools and three colleges, all of which were later confirmed to be false alarms.

Officials have urged calm and cooperation as investigations into the group behind the threats continue despite the panic and logistical disruptions. Cybercrime departments are examining digital breadcrumbs to determine the origin and purpose of ‘The Terrorizers 111 Group.’
