During the Ondo Summit in New York, Donald Trump Jr. stated that cryptocurrency is a key to the future of America’s economy. When addressing other industry leaders, he did not mince his words and said that digital assets could define the U.S. economic dominance, referring to crypto as the “future of American hegemony.”
This statement is in line with the increasing dominance of World Liberty Financial (WLF) which is a DeFi project associated with Trump’s family. Co-founder Chase Herro also revealed the existence of a “strategic reserve” of cryptocurrencies, although the specifics of its use have not been disclosed.
WLF has been involved in buying various tokens such as Ethereum, wBTC, Tron, and Chainlink, which helps in creating a strong portfolio of cryptocurrencies.
WLF’s crypto reserve strategy is also in line with the plan that Trump came up with during his campaign where he signed an order to consider the establishment of a digital asset reserve. This raised questions on how WLF could impact the decentralized finance policies in the United States.
During the summit, the representatives of the government, such as Patrick McHenry and Caroline Pham, spoke about the regulation of cryptocurrencies. In this regard, the former CFTC Chair J. Christopher Giancarlo pointed to Trump’s continuous work on advancing the crypto agenda.
As WLF has not officially launched its DeFi platform, its actions, and increasing crypto investments indicate a new trend of incorporating digital finance into its policies. As the Trump family is involved in WLF, further actions by the organization can significantly influence the development of American economic strategies.
