Shein Global Holdings, the Singapore-headquartered fast-fashion retailer, completed its initial public offering (IPO) on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange on September 1, 2026, raising approximately $1.7 billion at a valuation of $26.5 billion.
On the same day, xStocks, the tokenized equity issuer distributed through the Payward and Kraken stack, listed a tracker token named $SHEINx on Solana and Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM) compatible chains, offering eligible non-US users onchain price exposure to the newly listed shares.
Shein Prices Hong Kong Listing at HK$48.56 After Years of Delay
Shein sold 280 million Class B shares under the ticker 0625.HK at HK$48.56 per share, near the midpoint of its HK$47.60 to HK$49.50 range. The offering raised roughly HK$13.6 billion. The pricing marks a sharp discount to Shein’s 2022 private-market peak of nearly $100 billion and its 2023 funding round valuation of $66 billion.
The Hong Kong public offer was 5.63 times subscribed, while the international book was covered 2.59 times. The IPO accounted for approximately 6.6% of the enlarged share capital, with cornerstone investors including Boyu Capital, Tiger Global, General Atlantic, Tencent Holdings, and UBS Asset Management Singapore under a six-month lock-up. That structure left roughly 5% of shares freely tradable at debut.
On September 1, the stock fell as much as 10% intraday before closing down 0.1% at HK$48.50, a rebound analysts attributed to stabilization measures typically applied to large listings. On September 2, shares slipped a further 3% to HK$46.94 in early trade, according to a Reuters report.
$SHEINx Goes Live on xStocks on Debut Day
xStocks announced the listing on X on September 1, followed by a post disclosing the Solana mint and EVM contract addresses. A second post on September 2 confirmed live trading. The Solana Foundation amplified the launch the same day.
xStocks launched on June 30, 2025, with more than 60 tokenized US equities and exchange-traded funds (ETFs), and was acquired by Kraken in December 2025. $SHEINx sits among its first trackers for a Hong Kong-listed underlying, following the July 10, 2026 same-day tokenization of SK Hynix’s Nasdaq debut.
What $SHEINx Actually Represents
According to the xStocks product legal overview, $SHEINx is a tracker certificate issued by Backed Assets (JE) Limited, a Jersey-domiciled special purpose vehicle (SPV) owned by Backed Finance AG in Switzerland. Token holders receive economic exposure only. They do not receive voting rights, shareholder status, or direct ownership of Shein equity.
The product is unavailable to US persons and subject to further geographic restrictions. If the structure operates as documented, the token is collateralized 1:1 by underlying Shein shares held in regulated custody, and can be redeemed under the prospectus for cash or the underlying instrument. Corporate actions such as dividends are typically handled through token balance rebasing rather than direct cash distributions.
Trading Hours Mirror the Hong Kong Cash Session
$SHEINx trading is aligned with the Hong Kong cash market from 9:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Hong Kong time, unlike xStocks trackers for US equities that often extend beyond regular market hours.
This structure means the token follows the reference tape when the Hong Kong Stock Exchange (HKEX) is open and remains inactive outside those hours, a design choice that limits basis risk during periods of thin offchain liquidity.
Free Float and Fundamentals Weigh on the Tracker
The thin free float of the underlying IPO carries implications for the tokenized version. Real-world asset (RWA) trackers depend on efficient primary market activity for accurate price discovery. When the reference stock has limited liquidity or continues to decline, arbitrageurs may struggle to keep the token pegged to the cash tape.
Shein’s fundamentals have softened alongside the listing. The company reported a $99 million loss in the first quarter of 2026 after the United States ended de minimis treatment for low-value parcels, raising duty costs on the small packages central to its cross-border model. Revenue growth decelerated to 8% in 2025 from 20.7% the prior year.
What the Listing Tests, and What It Does Not
Same-day wrapping of a Hong Kong IPO is a technical milestone for the xStocks platform, testing custody, hours alignment, and price feeds against a non-US cash market that remains thin at debut. The launch adds to a growing set of non-US names available onchain following the SK Hynix tokenization in July 2026.
The addition of $SHEINx does not resolve open questions about Shein’s collapsed valuation, its supply chain and ESG record, or the sustainability of its low-cost cross-border model under the current tariff regime. Without independent figures for holder counts, mint size, 24-hour trading volume, and the basis to 0625.HK, the listing represents product availability rather than adoption.
Three metrics will determine the token’s near-term performance: whether $SHEINx tracks the Hong Kong tape without drifting, whether redemptions remain functional if the cash stock continues to decline, and whether onchain liquidity holds strictly within the advertised trading session.
