Warner Music Group taps OpenSea to Advance Web3 Efforts

Global entertainment company Warner Music Group has announced a partnership with the leading NFT marketplace OpenSea to advance Web3 efforts. The move focuses on providing a platform for select musical artists to build and extend their fanbase into the Web3 space.

Under this partnership, these two entities will also allow select WMG artists to get early access to OpenSea’s new drop product.

Additionally, artists can benefit from improved discoverability, personalized storytelling on custom landing pages, and OpenSea’s safety features. This would also unlock dedicated support and best practices from the OpenSea team, helping WMG artists create new Web3 communities.

They can also introduce existing fan communities to new forms of connections while also showcasing creativity through NFTs.

The added advantage is that WMG artists would now have their own dedicated drop page to host limited-edition projects which will provide new opportunities for fans to engage with artists and music.

Oana Ruxandra, Chief Digital Officer & EVP, Business Development, WMG also commented on this partnership saying, our collaboration with OpenSea will facilitate Web3 tools and resources to build opportunities for artists to establish deeper engagement, access, and ownership.

OpenSea’s Vice President of Product Shiva Rajaraman showed enthusiasm for this initiative by stating that OpenSea is excited to provide the support and infrastructure to help welcome the Warner family of artists into the exciting NFT ecosystem.

Moreover, the first collection is currently in development with Warner Records UK in collaboration with Web3 company, Probably Nothing.

With Web3 adoption rapidly spreading to different industries, WMG’s subsidiary Warner Bros also partnered with Funko for DC Comics’ NFT release. In the coming days, it would be interesting to see more entertainment firms making dramatic strides in the NFT space.
