South Korea’s Seongnam To Give Citizenship Rights Through Nfts

The 12th most populated city in South Korea, Seongnam is planning a digital makeover and recreate the city in Metaverse and offer citizenship rights through NFTs.

As per the local media reports, the city is planning to place an order to create Metaverse Special City Seongnam’ next month. After releasing the service results in April next year, the virtual city will start operating in May or June next year.

The NFT citizenships, which will be fundamentally issued to promote the metaverse city, will also offer citizens access to more municipal information. The Seongnam city government said that other details related to the platform and the NFTs will be decided in an upcoming meeting in October.

With the digital jump, the city expects that the virtual city platform will enable participation from all generations and specially the MZ generation (born in the early 1980s to early 2000s) who have actually grown up with digital media.
