A meme token called Lil’ Shrub, trading under the ticker SHRUB, posted a 154.9% 24-hour gain on CoinGecko on Saturday, days after a hedgehog photograph shared on X by Shivon Zilis, who has served as director of operations and special projects at Neuralink and as a Tesla Autopilot project director, was used as the meme for an on-chain fan project on Robinhood’s newly launched blockchain.
The token was quoted at $0.0557 with a 24-hour gain of 154.9% on its CoinGecko listing at the time of reading, with a market capitalisation and fully diluted valuation (FDV) of $54.919 million each, 24-hour trading volume of $5.808 million, and circulating, total, and maximum supply each recorded at 1 billion SHRUB.

The Bitcoin (BTC) denominated price stood at 0.0000006895 BTC, up 165.5% over the same window. CoinGecko ranked the asset 425th.
The same snapshot showed a 24-hour range of $0.01807 to $0.1481, with the all-time high dated to September 4, 2026. The intraday chart tracks the price rising from a base near $0.03 during afternoon UTC hours on September 4, peaking at $0.1481 later that evening, and pulling back below $0.06 through September 5. Read against that range, the 154.9% headline measures the distance from the session low rather than a sustained climb that held at the peak.
A young pool on Robinhood Chain
Trading is concentrated on Robinhood Chain, the permissionless Ethereum Layer 2 (L2) network from broker-dealer Robinhood Markets, which went live on public mainnet on July 1, 2026, and was originally positioned around tokenised real-world assets (RWAs) and decentralised finance (DeFi). Crypto Times reported earlier this year on the memecoin surge that has come to dominate on-chain activity on the network, where retail-driven tokens have overtaken the institutional use case the chain was built for.
The Lil’ Shrub contract, 0x5d9144d2d017386519a7134fcc7f1e4ba22f920c, routes almost all of its volume through a single SHRUB and Wrapped Ether (WETH) pair on Uniswap V2 at the pool address 0x4a6a85252a6f6b383a5f747259ee157e65ff1307. The pool is roughly five days old, with visible liquidity in the low six figures against a printed market capitalisation in the tens of millions.
In that structure, a moderately sized market order can move the printed price by a large percentage in either direction, which is the mechanical reason a 100%-plus session move is common for tokens of this age and depth.
The Zilis post and the meme origin
The project’s original story traces back to a post on X by Zilis, published on August 30, 2026 at 18:20:35 GMT, showing a hedgehog with the caption “Lil’ Shrub in a shrub.”
That post is the image and caption the project site uses. It does not, by itself, account for the September 4 high, which printed several days later.
The project site describes SHRUB as a token with “zero utility,” lists a total supply of 1 billion, states buy and sell taxes at 0%, and claims liquidity has been burned or locked. Those figures are self-reported. No on-chain attribution and no public statement from Zilis reviewed for this report link her, Neuralink, Tesla, or any named entity to the deployment of the SHRUB contract, the treasury allocation, or the seeding of the pool.
The SLINK precedent
The Lil’ Shrub move follows a comparable episode tied to the same X accounts. On-chain intelligence account Lookonchain reported that a Robinhood Chain token called SLINK briefly reached a market capitalisation of around $80 million after Zilis reposted a message carrying the SLINK contract address and Tesla and X owner Elon Musk replied to the post. Zilis subsequently deleted the repost, and SLINK’s price fell more than 80% from the peak.
Lookonchain identified more than 30 wallets it described as insider addresses that had bought early and sold quickly, together booking a combined realised gain above $4.7 million, with individual wallet returns exceeding 1,200x on the sequence.
SHRUB and SLINK are separate contracts on separate deployments, and no evidence reviewed here shows that Zilis herself launched either token. What the two episodes share is a market shape: a viral post on X, a young pool with limited depth, a sharp climb, and a sharp retracement. That shape is consistent with the pattern Crypto Times has documented in its coverage of the record active-address growth drawing first-time users onto Robinhood Chain through meme trading.
Ticker collision in aggregator data
The ticker SHRUB is not unique. Older tokens on other networks also trade under the Shrub name with different contract addresses, holder counts, and price histories. Any cross-service price check for this asset should be anchored on the Robinhood Chain contract address, not on the ticker, because pulling up the wrong Shrub page can mislead a reader on liquidity, holder base, and the age of the deployment.
What the data supports
The CoinGecko snapshot referenced above supports a 24-hour move of 154.9% to $0.0557, a session range of $0.01807 to $0.1481 with an all-time high dated September 4, 2026, a market capitalisation of $54.919 million, and 24-hour trading volume of $5.808 million. It supports the reading that trading is concentrated in a single, young Uniswap V2 pool on Robinhood Chain and that the current print sits well below the recent peak.
The same data does not support any official endorsement of SHRUB by Shivon Zilis, Neuralink, Tesla, or an affiliated company. It does not support treating the printed market capitalisation as an executable valuation, because the depth in the SHRUB/WETH pool is not consistent with orderly execution at that size. And it does not support projecting the 24-hour percentage forward, because the same arithmetic that lifted the price on a shallow pool can reverse it just as quickly.
Prices, market capitalisation, volume, and rank cited in this report were accurate on the linked pages at the time of reading and will not match a later refresh. This is a market-move brief and does not constitute a recommendation to buy or sell.
