- BlackRock’s IBIT attracted $502.99 million on Thursday, accounting for roughly 83% of the day’s total net inflow.
- Glassnode said the preceding three-day ETF inflow was the strongest since Bitcoin was last trading above $80,000.
U.S. spot Bitcoin exchange-traded funds have attracted about $1.61 billion in four consecutive trading sessions, adding another source of spot demand as Bitcoin staged its strongest rally in months.
According to SoSoValue data, the funds recorded $606.29 million in net inflows on August 20, following $517.19 million on August 19, $189.30 million on August 18 and $297.56 million on August 17.
The four sessions together brought in approximately $1.61 billion, with Thursday producing the largest daily inflow of the run. The Wall Street Journal reported that this has already made the current week the strongest for U.S. spot Bitcoin ETF inflows in 2026.
Bitcoin was trading above $77,000 on Friday after briefly climbing as high as $79,463, extending a rally that has also been supported by lower Treasury yields, a weaker dollar and improving sentiment around U.S. crypto regulation.
BlackRock Takes 83% of Thursday’s Bitcoin ETF Inflow
BlackRock’s iShares Bitcoin Trust dominated Thursday’s ETF activity, pulling in $502.99 million, or roughly 83% of the $606.29 million total.
Fidelity’s FBTC followed with $64.74 million, while Bitwise’s BITB attracted $26.39 million and Ark & 21Shares’ ARKB added $12.15 million. Invesco’s BTCO recorded another $3.61 million.
VanEck’s HODL was the only fund to record a net withdrawal, with $3.59 million in outflows, while the remaining products reported no net flows.
BlackRock’s dominance also reflects the widening gap between IBIT and the rest of the U.S. Bitcoin ETF market. BlackRock reported that IBIT held approximately $54.8 billion in net assets as of August 20.
The latest buying also extends the recovery in ETF demand seen earlier this month, when U.S. funds recorded a separate four-day inflow streak as Bitcoin moved back above $65,000. The
Glassnode Flags Strongest Three-Day Demand Since BTC Above $80K
Before Thursday’s numbers were added, Glassnode said close to $1 billion had entered Bitcoin ETFs over three days, describing it as the strongest three-day inflow since Bitcoin was last trading above $80,000.
SoSoValue’s figures for August 17 through August 19 total approximately $1.00 billion, with $297.56 million, $189.30 million and $517.19 million entering the funds during those sessions.
Thursday’s additional $606.29 million therefore extended what was already an unusually strong institutional buying run.
The change is particularly notable after ETF demand had been inconsistent earlier this summer. U.S. Bitcoin ETFs finished one week at the end of July with net outflows before demand began recovering during August.
Bitcoin ETF Demand Rises Alongside BTC Rally
The increase in ETF buying has occurred alongside a sharp reversal in Bitcoin itself.
Bitcoin moved above $70,000 for the first time in more than two months this week before accelerating above $77,000. The rally has also been linked to the U.S. Treasury’s expansion of long-term bond buybacks, which pressured yields and the dollar, while billions of dollars in short positions were liquidated as BTC moved higher.
ETF buying, however, provides a separate spot-demand component to the rally. Unlike futures liquidations, which create temporary forced buying as short positions are closed, ETF inflows represent fresh capital entering products that directly hold Bitcoin.
With roughly $1.61 billion entering U.S. spot Bitcoin ETFs in only four sessions, Friday’s flow data will show whether institutional demand can continue after Bitcoin’s rapid move toward the $80,000 level.
