20,000 BTC Strive Hits Major Bitcoin Milestone With $5.2M Buy

Key Highlights

  • Strive reached 20,000 BTC after buying 79 Bitcoin for about $5.2 million, marking its fourth straight week of Bitcoin purchases.
  • The company has added more than 3,780 BTC in 2026, growing its Bitcoin treasury through market purchases and its merger with Semler Scientific.
  • Strive is now the seventh-largest public Bitcoin holder, with its 20,000 BTC treasury worth about $1.3 billion at current market prices.

Strive (Nasdaq: ASST), a Bitcoin treasury firm, has reached a new milestone in its Bitcoin strategy after increasing its holdings to 20,000 BTC.

According to a Form 8-K filed with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) on July 27, the company achieved the feat after buying 79 Bitcoin between July 20 and July 24 for about $5.2 million, paying an average price of $65,723 per Bitcoin, including fees.

The purchase marks the company’s fourth consecutive week of adding Bitcoin to its treasury. The new purchase increased Strive’s total Bitcoin holdings from 19,921 BTC to exactly 20,000 BTC. At the current market price, the holdings are worth about $1.3 billion.

How Strive reached the 20,000 BTC milestone

Reaching the round figure of 20,000 BTC is another step in the company’s plan to keep growing its Bitcoin treasury. The company has been building its holdings steadily since becoming a publicly traded Bitcoin-holding company less than 11 months ago.

During the second quarter alone, Strive added about 3,264 Bitcoin through a mix of market purchases and corporate transactions. The company has continued to add Bitcoin even as prices have moved up and down.

One of Strive’s biggest Bitcoin purchases this year came in May 2026, when it bought more than 2,500 BTC for about $185.2 million, paying an average price of around $74,092 per Bitcoin. A few weeks later, it added another 73 BTC for about $4.7 million at an average price of $63,646 per coin.

The buying continued in June. Between June 15 and June 21, Strive purchased 759 Bitcoin for around $50 million, paying an average of about $65,850 per Bitcoin. A week following that, it bought another 17.76 Bitcoin at around $59,850 per BTC.

Altogether, the company has added more than 3,780 BTC since the beginning of 2026. While many of those coins came from direct purchases, Strive said additional Bitcoin was acquired through its merger with Semler Scientific.

Today, it ranks as the seventh-largest public company holding Bitcoin, just behind Bullish, and above Elon Musk’s SpaceX, according to Bitcoin Treasury.

How Strive funds its Bitcoin purchases

Strive has also outlined how it finances its Bitcoin accumulation strategy. According to the company, it primarily raises capital through its SATA perpetual preferred stock, which it says helps fund Bitcoin purchases while reducing the need to issue additional common shares.

The company recently increased the dividend on the preferred stock to approximately 13% and said it continues to use the proceeds to expand its Bitcoin treasury.

Balance sheet shows latest changes

The filing also showed changes in other parts of Strive’s balance sheet during the same period. Cash and cash equivalents fell from $157.4 million on July 17 to $154.0 million on July 24.

At the same time, the value of the company’s investment in Strategy Inc.’s Variable Rate Series A Perpetual Stretch Preferred Stock (STRC) increased from $43.071 million to $43.879 million. The number of Strive’s Class A common shares outstanding also increased by 437,477 shares during the week.
