Canadian rapper Drake, whose full name is Aubrey Drake Graham, is once again betting crypto on the online casino Stake. Drake placed $1.5 million worth of USDT on Argentina to beat Spain in the FIFA World Cup final.
Drake shared the wager himself through an Instagram post, publishing a betting slip showing the USDT stake placed through crypto betting platform Stake. The slip lists odds of 3.45, meaning the rapper stands to receive approximately $5.175 million if Argentina lifts the trophy.

Drake was recently seen posting jokes about his reputation for backing losing teams, captioning the post: “What’s that saying??? Better luck next time… say less.”
The remark quickly reignited discussion around the long-running “Drake Curse” narrative, with fans flooding the comments section with jokes that Argentina’s chances had just become more difficult.
The post also caught the attention of Tether CEO Paolo Ardoino, who reposted news of the wager on X with nothing more than the Argentine flag and a red heart emoji.
Although Ardoino offered no explanation, the post quickly circulated across Crypto X, drawing additional attention to USDT’s growing role in large-scale online sports betting.
His reaction also comes at a time when Tether is expanding its presence in Argentina, giving the post additional significance beyond a simple football prediction.
Argentina’s World Cup run has already fueled crypto activity
Drake’s wager comes just days after Argentina’s dramatic semifinal victory over England, a result that triggered a sharp reaction across crypto markets.
Following the comeback win, the ARG Fan Token surged more than 118%, while 24-hour trading volume jumped over 2,200% as traders rushed to gain exposure ahead of the final.
The rally highlighted how major sporting events are increasingly influencing digital asset markets, particularly fan tokens linked to successful national teams.
Tether recently expanded its presence in Argentina
Ardoino’s show of support also follows Tether’s recent $20 million investment in Argentine digital bank Ualá, which formed part of the company’s $197 million funding round announced earlier this week.
While the investment did not include plans to integrate USDT into Ualá’s services, it reinforced Tether’s growing interest in Argentina—one of Latin America’s largest cryptocurrency markets.
Against that backdrop, Ardoino’s reaction to Drake’s Argentina wager attracted additional attention within the crypto community.
Crypto and sports continue to converge
The latest episode underscores the increasingly close relationship between cryptocurrency and global sports.
From fan tokens and sponsorships to stablecoin-funded wagers, digital assets have become deeply embedded in the sports ecosystem.
Drake has regularly used cryptocurrency for multimillion-dollar bets on major sporting events, and his latest World Cup wager once again placed USDT at the center of one of football’s biggest occasions.
With Argentina set to face Spain in the final, both football fans and crypto traders will be watching to see whether Drake’s $1.5 million USDT bet pays off—or whether the “Drake Curse” once again steals the spotlight.
