A lucky crypto trader has turned a tiny $173 investment into a massive $224,390 profit by holding onto a Solana-based meme coin called TROLL.
The trader made the purchase in mid-December 2024, when the coin’s total market value was just $6,510. Over the next four months, the coin surged by more than 361,500%. The trade was made through Solana’s launchpad platform Pump.fun, where the TROLL token first appeared in May 2024.
TROLL is themed around the popular internet meme, Trollface, which was created in 2008 by Carlos Ramirez and became one of the most shared memes online. Though the coin saw very little action for months, even dipping to a market cap of $4,550 in April 2025, it exploded on April 20, a date popular with meme culture.
On that day alone, it skyrocketed 59,944% to a $2.7 million market cap and kept climbing, reaching a peak of $27.37 million, according to DEX Screener.
The trader originally spent 0.8 SOL, worth about $173 at the time, on December 16. The investment sat untouched until April 21, when the tokens were moved to a new wallet and slowly sold.
According to Solana block explorer Solscan, the trader has now locked in $103,900 through 97 different sales. Their wallet still holds another $120,490 worth of TROLL tokens. The trader hasn’t made any moves in the last 11 hours, as of the latest data.
The ride hasn’t been smooth. After the trader’s first sales on April 21, the token’s market cap dropped 55% from $8.4 million to $3.8 million. It then jumped to $15.8 million, crashed 25%, and later spiked again 47% to $34,64 million today. It is currently trading for $0.01802.
