The popular British crime drama Peaky Blinders, which has attracted around 80 million viewers worldwide, is getting a Web3 makeover.
A new video game based on the series and built on a blockchain is under development by Anonymous Labs, the firm behind building Web3 ventures such as the Simon’s Cat token.
In order to bring the gritty reality of 1920s Birmingham to the Web3 globe, they are working with Banijay Rights, the global distributor of Peaky Blinders.
The game will allow players to participate in exciting missions, create their own Shelby family, and travel through a virtual world based on the program. It’s being constructed as a high-budget AAA game, so it will come with premium-quality graphics and gameplay. Players will also be able to trade and collect digital items through blockchain technology.
The goal is to introduce traditional fans to the world of blockchain and crypto. Instead of just watching the show, fans can now be part of the story and own a piece of the world through blockchain-powered items, missions, and community experiences.
Wojciech Gruszka, who’s leading the game’s development, said this is one of the biggest TV brands to enter the Web3 world. He thinks this is going to be a game-changer for the blockchain space, not only as an entertaining experience but also as a means of generating new sources of income and building fan base loyalty.
What’s next for the Peaky Blinders Web3 game is still unknown. The team hasn’t released a launch date, information on in-game economy, or the nature of the crypto tokens or rewards. Yet, the announcement represents a significant shift in integrating entertainment with blockchain technology.
