Injective’s native token, INJ, traded near $9.13 on October 16, 2026, marking a 24-hour gain of approximately 27.3%—according to data from CoinGecko.
The move lifted the token’s market capitalization to roughly $914 million, with 24-hour trading volume exceeding $340 million. Its circulating supply stood at 100 million tokens, placing INJ around rank 85 by market capitalization. The 24-hour range spanned $7.07 to $9.35, while the token remained about 82.6% below its all-time high of $52.62.
The latest advance continued a broader recovery. INJ had risen roughly 70% over the preceding month from levels near $5.40, with the most recent session producing elevated volume relative to market capitalization.
On-chain observations reported by market participants indicated a reduction in exchange balances, consistent with holders transferring tokens into longer-term wallets. The token’s performance outpaced many larger smart-contract platforms over the same period, though broader cryptocurrency markets showed mixed results.
Regulatory Meetings and Institutional Partnerships
On October 15, Injective stated on its official X account that CEO Eric Chen, accompanied by the company’s general counsel, head of policy, and head of research, met with officials from the White House, the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), and the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) in Washington. The project described the discussions as focused on tokenization and on-chain finance within the existing U.S. regulatory framework.
The meetings follow earlier regulatory steps. In August 2026, Injective Institutional Services became registered with the SEC as a transfer agent, enabling the affiliate to maintain official ownership records for securities and process transfers. Injective has indicated that distributed ledger technology may serve as part of the master securityholder file under applicable SEC staff guidance, provided federal securities law requirements are met.
Separately, Gulf Labs, the blockchain and digital-asset arm of Thailand’s GULF Group, went live as an institutional validator on Injective in early October. According to the official Injective announcement, the collaboration begins with network validation and governance participation and contemplates further work on tokenization, stablecoins, education, and infrastructure access in Thailand. Gulf Labs Director Sireethorn Vorasuthika stated that the validator role provides a direct connection between the group’s existing operations in energy, telecommunications, and data centers and on-chain finance infrastructure.
Multiple asset managers, including 21Shares and Canary Capital, have filed registration statements with the SEC for exchange-traded products that would provide exposure to INJ, with some proposals incorporating staking. These filings remain pending, and no products have been declared effective. Injective has also highlighted CFTC-regulated futures contracts for INJ available to U.S. traders through Bitnomial.
The combination of the recent Washington meetings, the existing transfer-agent registration, and the Gulf Labs validator deployment has drawn attention to Injective’s efforts to align on-chain finance tools with U.S. and Asian institutional requirements. Market participants will continue to assess whether these developments translate into sustained trading volume or further institutional product launches.
