Mastercard, a technology and financial services company, and stablecoin infrastructure provider BVNK have launched the Global Money Platform, allowing banks, fintechs, and businesses to offer traditional and digital currency services through a single application programming interface (API).
According to an announcement published on October 15, the platform combines Mastercard’s payment infrastructure with BVNK’s stablecoin technology. It supports multi-currency accounts, conversion between fiat currencies and stablecoins, stablecoin-linked cards and local bank payouts.
Mastercard described the launch as the first major integration of the two companies’ capabilities since its acquisition of BVNK in August 2026. Meanwhile, BVNK said the integration is designed to let businesses add stablecoin services to their existing financial products.
Platform connects accounts, conversion and payouts
The platform allows businesses to offer accounts that hold fiat currencies and stablecoins side by side. They can also support conversions between the two and integrate the services into their financial products through a single API.
The service connects with Mastercard Move, enabling payouts to recipients’ local bank accounts. Mastercard said Move reaches more than 17 billion endpoints.
The platform is expected to expand to more than 40 currencies across over 200 countries and territories in 2027. Businesses can also offer cards linked to stablecoin balances for spending across Mastercard’s merchant network. According to Mastercard, its card issuing capabilities are available in more than 130 countries.
Nuvei and Marqeta among initial integrations
Nuvei, Marqeta, Ontop, Bolt Group and Almond FinTech are among the first companies expected to integrate the platform.
Nuvei Chair and CEO Phil Fayer said, “Stablecoins are becoming an increasingly important part of that future, and our work with Mastercard and BVNK will help us bring these capabilities to more businesses.”
BVNK co-founder and chief business officer Chris Harmse said the platform would allow enterprise customers to build global financial products without developing the underlying infrastructure themselves.
Launch follows Mastercard’s stablecoin settlement plans
The launch follows earlier Mastercard initiatives involving stablecoin payments and settlement.
On June 3, Mastercard unveiled 24/7 on-chain stablecoin settlement, including settlement options for weekends and holidays.
Subsequently, on September 22, SoFi launched stablecoin settlement with Mastercard. The arrangement allows SoFi to use its dollar-pegged stablecoin for settlement while merchants continue receiving funds through their existing banking setup.
The Global Money Platform extends Mastercard’s stablecoin work beyond settlement to include accounts, currency conversion, and card-linked spending. Mastercard did not specify whether the platform would use SoFi’s stablecoin.
Mastercard announced BVNK acquisition in March
Mastercard announced plans in March to acquire BVNK for up to $1.8 billion. BVNK provides infrastructure that enables businesses to move money using stablecoins across blockchain networks and international markets.
Raj Dhamodharan, Mastercard’s executive vice president of blockchain and digital assets, said the platform connects traditional and digital payment systems.
“Global Money Platform brings together Mastercard’s trusted payment infrastructure and reach with BVNK’s stablecoin capabilities, giving businesses a single foundation to move value across traditional and digital ecosystems,” Dhamodharan said.
Mastercard said future additions could include agentic commerce and other regulated forms of digital money, such as tokenized deposits. The company did not provide a timeline for these capabilities.
