Crypto markets enter the week with Bitcoin trading near $83,700 and Ether around $2,543, according to the market snapshot cited for October 12. Both assets remained lower over the preceding seven days despite daily gains, based on CoinGecko’s Bitcoin data and Ethereum data as of 03:30 UTC.
The calendar now turns toward US inflation data ahead of the Federal Reserve’s October 27–28 meeting. September CPI arrives Wednesday, followed by producer prices, retail sales, and jobless claims. Major US banks also begin reporting quarterly results this week, while the crypto calendar features Evernorth’s expected listing under XRPN, Friday’s options expiry, and a series of token unlocks.
The Macro: CPI Leads the Final Stretch Before the Fed
September CPI is scheduled for Wednesday, October 14, at 8:30 a.m. ET, according to the US Bureau of Labor Statistics release calendar. It is the last major scheduled inflation reading before the Federal Reserve’s October 27–28 meeting.
Pre-release forecasts cited for the report put headline inflation at approximately 0.6% month over month and 3.6%–3.7% year over year. Core CPI is estimated at around 0.2% month over month and 2.5% year over year. Energy costs, particularly gasoline, are among the factors analysts may watch when assessing headline inflation. The actual result will determine whether price pressures come in above or below expectations.
The Federal Reserve’s September meeting minutes indicated that most participants considered another rate increase by year-end likely to be appropriate, although policymakers differed over the inflation outlook and the path of monetary policy. The minutes do not establish that another increase is certain. The Fed’s monetary-policy calendar lists the next meeting for October 27–28.
Thursday, October 15, brings another concentrated data window. September producer price index (PPI), retail sales and weekly initial jobless claims are scheduled for 8:30 a.m. ET. The Empire State and Philadelphia Fed manufacturing surveys follow during the morning, alongside other scheduled economic releases.
Business inventories are scheduled for 10:00 a.m. ET, while Federal Reserve Governor Kevin Warsh is among the officials listed to speak.
Friday, October 16, brings September industrial production and capacity utilisation at 9:15 a.m. ET, alongside import and export price data. The releases will provide additional information on US economic activity as markets assess the inflation outlook.
US Bank Earnings Season Opens
Quarterly results from major US banks provide another source of information for investors this week, particularly on lending, credit conditions, trading activity, and investment banking. JPMorgan Chase, Goldman Sachs, Citigroup, and Wells Fargo are scheduled to report on Tuesday, October 13. Bank of America and Morgan Stanley are scheduled to report on Wednesday, October 14.
The results arrive ahead of the Federal Reserve’s next meeting, giving markets a fresh look at financial-sector performance alongside inflation and consumer-spending data.
Evernorth’s XRPN Listing Targets Monday Debut
Evernorth, the Ripple-backed XRP treasury company, is expected to begin trading on Nasdaq under the ticker XRPN on Monday, October 12, following the planned completion of its business combination with Armada Acquisition Corp. II.
The Crypto Times previously reported that the expected debut was pushed back after an administrative delay. The company’s revised schedule was outlined in its October listing update.
Evernorth has positioned itself as a publicly traded vehicle focused on holding XRP. The company has reported plans to build a substantial XRP treasury, with approximately 473 million XRP cited in earlier coverage.
The listing adds another digital-asset treasury vehicle to public markets, where investors can obtain exposure through company shares rather than holding the underlying token directly. Such structures also carry company-specific risks, including the possibility that shares trade at a premium or discount to the value of their crypto holdings.
The Token Unlock Calendar: Cronos and deBridge Stand Out
Token unlocks are scheduled releases of previously restricted tokens. They can change the amount of supply available to holders, but an unlock alone does not establish that recipients will sell or that a token’s price will fall.
This week’s calendar includes several large reported releases.
Pump.fun and Aptos Start the Week
Pump.fun (PUMP) is listed for an October 12 unlock of approximately 6.88 billion tokens, with preliminary estimates valuing the release at $38-52 million.
Aptos (APT) reaches the fourth anniversary of its October 2022 mainnet launch. The original four-year vesting period for core contributors and early backers is reported to be ending, potentially changing the composition of future scheduled releases. Market estimates put monthly releases at approximately 11.31 million APT before the change and 4.54 million APT afterward, implying a reduction of roughly 60%.
Peaq (PEAQ) is also listed for an October 12–13 unlock valued at approximately 3.5-44 million in preliminary tracker estimates.
Starknet and Arbitrum Bring Further Releases
Starknet (STRK) is among the week’s more significant reported unlocks relative to circulating supply. Available tracker estimates vary materially, from approximately 127 million STRK to 226 million STRK, with reported values ranging from roughly $14 million to $28 million.
Starknet has also been in focus after the project said it was considering a transition to its own Layer 1 with a quantum-resistance target for 2027. That roadmap discussion is separate from the token-unlock schedule.
Arbitrum (ARB) is listed for an unlock of approximately 92.65 million tokens around October 16. Preliminary estimates value the release at $17.5-18.6 million, or approximately 1.3%–1.6% of circulating supply.
Cronos and deBridge Lead Friday’s Supply Watch
Cronos (CRO) is listed for a release of approximately 1.17 billion tokens around October 16–17, with a preliminary estimated value of $69.5 million and a reported share of 2.33% of circulating supply.
deBridge (DBR) is listed for an unlock of approximately 618 million tokens, estimated at around $12 million. Some trackers put the release at approximately 10% of circulating supply, which would make it a significant relative-supply event if verified.
Other reported supply developments include a scheduled burn of approximately 32.69 million unclaimed Sonic (S) tokens and the reported end of Filecoin’s six-year vesting schedule around October 15.
Dollar values are snapshot-dependent. Percentages should not be compared directly unless they use the same supply denominator and calculation method. Most importantly, a scheduled unlock is not a guaranteed sale; any market effect depends on recipient behavior, liquidity, and demand.
Bitcoin and Ether Options Expire Friday
Bitcoin and Ether options are scheduled to expire on Friday, October 16. A preliminary Deribit snapshot cited for the week lists approximately $1.25 billion in BTC options open interest and $247.5 million in ETH options open interest.
The Crypto Times previously covered how the prior week’s $2.16 billion Bitcoin and Ether options expiry settled. That settlement does not determine the outcome of this week’s expiry.
Crypto Events: Paradigm Frontiers, DC Fintech Week, and EDCON
Paradigm Frontiers runs in San Francisco from October 12–14, with its program focused on crypto infrastructure, research, and development. DC Fintech Week takes place in Washington, D.C., from October 13–16, bringing together participants from financial services, policy, and technology.
The Ethereum community is scheduled to gather in Kuala Lumpur for EDCON 2026 on October 17–18. Money20/20 USA begins in Las Vegas on October 18 and runs through October 21, bringing together participants from payments and financial technology.
Looking Ahead: FOMC, GDP, and PCE
The calendar only gets heavier. October 20 brings a LayerZero (ZRO) unlock of about 23.6 million tokens (~$45–50 million); October 23 has a GRAM unlock on some calendars (~$53 million); the October 27–28 FOMC meeting delivers a rate decision and press conference; and October 29 brings the Q3 GDP advance estimate and the September PCE reading. Ethereum’s Glamsterdam mainnet upgrade remains undated after last week’s Sepolia fork.
The Crypto Times does not forecast prices or the outcome of economic releases. Consensus figures represent external expectations rather than the publication’s own forecasts. For the previous week’s agenda, read our Crypto Week Ahead coverage of TOKEN2049, FOMC minutes, Evernorth’s XRP listing, and Ethereum’s Glamsterdam upgrade.
