India’s national cyber agency has issued a high-severity warning over a batch of Apple software flaws, and the people with most to lose from an unpatched device include anyone keeping crypto on one.
The flaws sit in Apple’s operating systems rather than in any wallet or exchange app, and the agency says nothing has been exploited. The fix is already available: Apple shipped it, and installing it closes the issue.
The Indian Computer Emergency Response Team, CERT-In, published vulnerability note CIVN-2026-0468 on September 21, 2026, rating the severity high. It said the flaws could let a remote attacker run arbitrary code or cause denial-of-service conditions on a targeted system.
What Is Affected
The note covers iOS and iPadOS before version 26.7, macOS Golden Gate before 27, macOS Tahoe before 26.7, macOS Sequoia before 15.8, tvOS, watchOS, and visionOS before 27, Safari before 27, and Xcode before 27.
CERT-In said successful exploitation could allow an attacker to run code, elevate privileges, obtain sensitive information, bypass security restrictions, or cause a device to crash. It assessed the potential impact as complete system compromise, data theft, and service disruption.
The remedy is to apply Apple’s security updates, which the agency links from its note.
What It Means for Crypto Users
CERT-In’s note does not mention cryptocurrency, does not name any wallet or exchange application, and does not report any attack using these flaws.
The relevance is general rather than specific. A device that an attacker can fully compromise is a poor place to keep anything sensitive, and for crypto holders that includes mobile wallet apps, exchange logins, and any seed phrase stored in a note, photo, or password manager on the device. Unlike a bank transfer, an unauthorized crypto transaction cannot be reversed.
The practical steps are the ordinary ones: install the update, keep large holdings in a hardware wallet rather than on a phone, and never store a recovery phrase as a photo or plain text file on an internet-connected device.
