Key Highlights
- Ducat announced its integration with TRON on September 17, expanding its Bitcoin-native settlement infrastructure.
- Users can use TRC-20 USDT as a primary settlement asset and access wUNIT, the TRON representation of Ducat’s Bitcoin-backed UNIT.
- Users can swap wUNIT for USDT through a dedicated liquidity pool, with providers earning a share of swap fees.
Ducat, a decentralized credit and stablecoin system, announced its integration with the TRON network on September 17, 2026. The move broadens the use of USDT (TRC-20) for on-chain settlement and liquidity movement across Ducat’s Bitcoin-native financial infrastructure.
According to the announcement, through the integration, Ducat users can use USDT as the primary settlement asset. They can also access wUNIT, the TRC-20 representation of Ducat’s Bitcoin-backed dollar, UNIT, on the TRON network. UNIT remains issued against BTC on Bitcoin. wUNIT enables that value to move across TRON and interact with USDT liquidity.
Users can hold wUNIT or swap it directly for USDT through a dedicated stablecoin liquidity pool. Liquidity providers can supply both assets and receive a share of swap fees generated by the pool.
TRON-Ducat integration structure
The integration connects Ducat’s Bitcoin-native credit engine with TRON’s stablecoin network. Ducat’s underlying collateral and issuance remain on Bitcoin. The architecture separates the roles of each layer: Bitcoin provides the underlying value and collateral, Ducat manages the monetary and credit logic, and TRON provides the settlement environment.
This arrangement gives Bitcoin-backed liquidity a route into TRON’s stablecoin ecosystem for payments, capital movement, and other on-chain financial workflows.
Recent Tron USDT incident
On September 12, 2026, an attacker drained 736,442.17 USDT from Chainflip’s Tron settlement path. Chainflip, a decentralized cross-chain swap protocol, disclosed the incident on September 13. The team stated that the amount taken was confined entirely to the Tron USDT route. All other supported chains and remaining funds were unaffected.
A pending user swap worth 115,654.41 USDT remained in the vault and could be processed after a secure restart, according to Chainflip.
Chainflip explained that its Tron settlement layer reads swap parameters from a memo attached to a Tron transaction, unlike most other chains that use dedicated contract functions. According to the protocol, the attacker attached a memo to a transaction that Chainflip validators had already signed. The system treated the memo as a separate swap instruction, classified the duplicate swap as failed, and issued a refund, resulting in payment of the same underlying deposit twice.
The Ducat announcement did not reference the Chainflip incident.
Ethena Takes USDe and sUSDe to TRON
Ethena has made its USDe and sUSDe tokens available on the TRON network, and users can now bridge, hold, and transfer the assets on TRON.
An announcement dated September 11 stated that bridging is available through Stargate Finance. Support from TRON-based applications, including JustLend DAO and SUN.io, is expected in the coming weeks.
The addition places USDe on a network where USDT accounts for the majority of stablecoin activity.
