WisdomTree, Inc. (NYSE: WT), an asset management company, and MoonPay, a financial technology company, announced a collaboration to make the WisdomTree Treasury Money Market Digital Fund (WTGXX), a tokenized money market mutual fund, more accessible to individual investors in the United States through MoonPay’s platform.
According to the announcement made on Thursday, MoonPay plans to use WTGXX as part of its stablecoin reserve management. WisdomTree is building an access point for its tokenized funds that uses MoonPay’s technology and platform.
MoonPay’s blockchain technology is intended to support the access point, allowing WisdomTree to reach investors beyond its direct channels through its broker-dealer, WisdomTree Securities, Inc., and into MoonPay’s network. The network hosts more than 35 million accounts and serves more than 1,700 partners, according to the companies.
The companies said the collaboration could form the basis for further work on additional tokenized fund opportunities, including in global markets.
Details of the access arrangement
WisdomTree described the effort as focused on expanding availability of WTGXX to everyday U.S. investors via MoonPay. The access point under development would connect WisdomTree’s tokenized funds with MoonPay’s existing infrastructure.
No specific launch date for the access point was provided in the announcement. The companies did not release further technical specifications or fee structures related to the planned integration.
