WisdomTree, MoonPay Expand Push Into Tokenized Fund Market

Key Highlights

  • WisdomTree and MoonPay announced a collaboration to broaden access to WTGXX for individual U.S. investors.
  • MoonPay plans to use WTGXX as part of its stablecoin reserve management.
  • The planned access point will use MoonPay’s blockchain infrastructure and connect WisdomTree’s tokenized funds to its broader network.

WisdomTree, Inc. (NYSE: WT), an asset management company, and MoonPay, a financial technology company, announced a collaboration to make the WisdomTree Treasury Money Market Digital Fund (WTGXX), a tokenized money market mutual fund, more accessible to individual investors in the United States through MoonPay’s platform.

According to the announcement made on Thursday, MoonPay plans to use WTGXX as part of its stablecoin reserve management. WisdomTree is building an access point for its tokenized funds that uses MoonPay’s technology and platform.

MoonPay’s blockchain technology is intended to support the access point, allowing WisdomTree to reach investors beyond its direct channels through its broker-dealer, WisdomTree Securities, Inc., and into MoonPay’s network. The network hosts more than 35 million accounts and serves more than 1,700 partners, according to the companies.

The companies said the collaboration could form the basis for further work on additional tokenized fund opportunities, including in global markets.

Details of the access arrangement

WisdomTree described the effort as focused on expanding availability of WTGXX to everyday U.S. investors via MoonPay. The access point under development would connect WisdomTree’s tokenized funds with MoonPay’s existing infrastructure.

No specific launch date for the access point was provided in the announcement. The companies did not release further technical specifications or fee structures related to the planned integration.

MoonPay’s planned use of WTGXX

MoonPay indicated it intends to include WTGXX among the assets used in its stablecoin reserve management. The announcement did not detail the proportion of reserves that might be allocated to the fund or the timeline for implementation.

WTGXX is identified as a tokenized money market mutual fund focused on Treasury holdings. The companies did not provide performance data or comparative figures in connection with the announcement.

Prior discussions with SEC staff

On August 12, 2026, staff from the Securities and Exchange Commission’s Crypto Task Force met with representatives from WisdomTree, Inc. to discuss tokenized funds.

According to the official SEC update, the meeting addressed three topics: an update on WisdomTree and perspectives on the tokenized fund marketplace; discussion of wallet onboarding for tokenized fund products; and discussion of commission rulemaking and guidance for tokenized assets.

WisdomTree attendees included Ryan Louvar, Chief Legal Officer and Head of Business & Legal Affairs; Rohan Ranadive, Head of Risk Management; Jason Guthrie, Head of Product, Digital Assets; and Shilpa Raina, Chief Compliance Officer and AML Officer. Chris Hayes, Adviser to WisdomTree, also participated.

The SEC update did not indicate any formal decisions or guidance resulting from the meeting.

The September announcement from WisdomTree and MoonPay did not reference the SEC meeting or the MoonAgents products. It focused on the planned access point for WTGXX and related tokenized funds, MoonPay’s intended use of the fund in reserve management, and the stated goal of broader engagement on tokenized products.
