Robinhood will list Crypto.com’s OG event contracts on its app and acquire minority stakes in Crypto.com and OG.
The deals tie Robinhood to three venues, adding equity exposure to Crypto.com and OG alongside existing Kalshi partnership.
Event contracts could expand to equity‑linked perpetual futures pending regulatory approval, targeting football season and midterm elections.

Robinhood has agreed to list Crypto.com’s event contracts and, unusually for a distribution deal, to buy minority stakes in both the exchange and the prediction-markets business supplying them.

That makes three venues Robinhood is now tied to. It began with Kalshi as a partner, launched Rothera with Susquehanna International Group, and now holds equity in a third.

The Wall Street Journal reported the multiyear agreement on September 8, under which contracts backed by Crypto.com’s OG business will appear on the brokerage’s app. Crypto.com also said it has spun OG out as a standalone company.

What Was and Was Not Disclosed

Terms of the agreements, including the size of Robinhood’s investments, were not disclosed.

The valuations give some sense of scale. Crypto.com and OG were valued at $15 billion and $5 billion, respectively, after Citadel Securities took a stake in each in July, meaning Robinhood is buying into businesses already marked at $20 billion combined.

Crypto.com chief executive Kris Marszalek told the Journal the company views this as the start of a strategic relationship, with event contracts the first of several products. He said the two have also discussed equity-linked perpetual futures, contingent on regulatory approval.

Marszalek said Crypto.com is looking at acquisitions and preparing for an initial public offering, without setting a timeline.

The Structural Question

Distribution deals and equity stakes usually sit apart. A brokerage routing customer orders to a venue it partly owns has an economic interest in that venue’s volumes as well as in its own commissions.

Robinhood already had a version of this through Rothera, the derivatives exchange it launched with Susquehanna. The Crypto.com investment extends the pattern to a third venue, while Kalshi remains a partner without equity attached.

Robinhood vice president and general manager of futures and prediction markets JB Mackenzie framed the deal in terms of pricing and range, telling the Journal it lets the company continue to have more skin in the game. He pointed to timing—the start of football season followed by the midterm elections—as a critical stretch for event contracts.

OG’s Growth and a Terminated Deal

Crypto.com has offered prediction-market contracts through its derivatives arm since late 2024 and launched OG as a standalone platform in February. Marszalek said it has grown roughly twentyfold this year.

Not every partnership has held. In late 2025, Crypto.com announced a deal with President Trump’s media business to put prediction markets directly on Truth Social. That arrangement was terminated last month, with the companies citing prevailing market conditions and shifting business and stakeholder priorities.

Robinhood’s Event-Contract Business Is Already Material

The Crypto Times reported that Robinhood generated approximately $156 million in prediction-market revenue during the second quarter.

The company’s route into the category has not been smooth. It began with presidential election contracts in October 2024, launched Super Bowl contracts in February 2025, and withdrew them after the CFTC asked it to stop, then opened a prediction-markets hub with Kalshi in March 2025, and expanded into its own exchange with Susquehanna in November.

The Regulatory Backdrop

The investment lands while the category is under sustained state-level challenge. Connecticut issued cease-and-desist orders against Robinhood, Kalshi, and Crypto.com in December 2025, arguing their sports event contracts amounted to unlicensed gambling.

Kentucky’s attorney general sued Kalshi and Polymarket in June on similar grounds, and Coinbase has challenged three states over the same question. The dispute turns on whether event contracts are federally regulated derivatives under the Commodity Exchange Act or gambling subject to state licensing, and courts have ruled both ways.

That unresolved question sits underneath a business Robinhood is now taking equity exposure to, rather than only commercial exposure.
