Key Highlights
- AAVE surged 4.86% in 24 hours to $100.96, lifting its market cap above $1.55 billion.
- Strong TVL, V4 upgrades, and DeFi sector recovery fueled bullish momentum.
- Analysts should remain cautious as regulatory risks, competition, and market volatility persist.
Aave (AAVE), the governance token of the decentralized lending protocol, climbed sharply on Monday, gaining 4.86% over the past 24 hours to trade at $100.96. The move pushed its market capitalization above $1.55 billion, with 24-hour trading volume exceeding $300 million as bullish sentiment returned to the DeFi sector.
According to CoinMarketCap, Aave’s Total Value Locked (TVL) stands at approximately $14.63 billion, underscoring sustained user activity despite periodic volatility. The price action reflects a broader recovery in decentralized finance tokens amid improving market conditions.

Technical indicators on platforms like TradingView also point to improving momentum, with multiple moving averages flashing “Buy” or “Strong Buy” signals. Meanwhile, oscillators show a predominantly neutral-to-bullish stance, supporting the short-term upward momentum.

Key resistance levels remain at $96.55 (R1) and $106.32 (R2). Stronger overhead resistance is at $122.13 (R3). Contrarily, support sits at $64.93 (S1), with further downside at 39.35 (S2). Current price near $101 faces immediate resistance at $106.32.
Why is AAVE price up?
Several catalysts appear to be driving today’s gains. Aave has continued rolling out enhancements from its V4 upgrade, including modular liquidity hubs and expanded support for tokenized real-world assets (RWAs).
Recent deployments and ecosystem incentives on chains like Avalanche have attracted fresh capital. Additionally, integrations such as Chainlink to power its upcoming multi-chain app have also renewed momentum.
Broader DeFi sector momentum has also played a role. With Bitcoin and Ethereum showing stability, capital has rotated back into blue-chip lending protocols.
From a technical perspective, AAVE has broken above key short-term resistance levels. The 1-week performance shows an approximately 11.78% gain, indicating building momentum. The price reclaiming the $100 psychological level could open the door to further upside toward $102–$110 in the near term if volume sustains.
Market risks remain constant threat
While today’s 4.86% surge is encouraging, AAVE remains far below its all-time high near $666, down over 84% from peak levels. The protocol faces intensifying competition from newer DeFi platforms offering higher yields or specialized features.
Broader crypto market corrections remain a constant threat; any Bitcoin pullback could quickly erase DeFi gains. Regulatory uncertainty around tokenized assets and lending protocols persists, potentially inviting scrutiny. High TVL, while impressive, also increases systemic risk exposure during black swan events.
For now, market participants will likely watch whether AAVE can maintain momentum above the $100 level while broader DeFi activity remains strong.
