Pump.fun’s iOS removal in the US and India halts new user acquisition, potentially shrinking its market share.
Existing users retain access and funds, limiting immediate financial loss but restricting revenue growth from fresh downloads.
Google Play remains available, creating platform disparity that could shift trading volume toward Android users.

Pump.fun’s mobile app has disappeared from the iOS App Store in two countries at once, and nobody has said why.

The company confirms the removal affects the United States and India, that existing installations continue to work, that funds are unaffected, and that Google Play downloads are still available. It expects the app to return.

Carl, who describes himself as a mobile app lead at Pump.fun and a founding engineer at Baton Corp, posted the statement on X at 23:23 UTC on September 10. The Crypto Times has confirmed the app is absent from both stores.

What Has Been Said

The statement describes the app as temporarily unavailable to download from the US and India iOS App Stores and says the change affects only potential users trying to download it for the first time in those two countries.

For everyone who already has it installed, the company says everything is operating as usual and funds are safe. New users can still download from Google Play. It expects relisting in both geographies soon and says the team will continue shipping updates.

No cause is given. Apple has not commented publicly, and the characterization of the removal as temporary is the company’s own rather than a status Apple has confirmed.

India Has a Precedent That Fits Exactly

The Indian half of this matches a documented pattern. In January 2024, following compliance show-cause notices issued by the Financial Intelligence Unit to nine offshore exchanges, the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology directed Apple to remove their apps from the Indian App Store. Binance, Bitfinex, HTX, KuCoin, and others were taken down.

The structural detail is the one that recurs. Apple removed the apps; Google Play continued to carry them, at least initially. Existing installations were unaffected. That is precisely the shape of what Pump.fun describes now.

The Crypto Times reported on September 9 that FIU-IND had issued notices to 15 offshore virtual digital asset service providers under Section 13 of the Prevention of Money Laundering Act, alongside takedown notices under Section 79(3)(b) of the IT Act. Pump.fun was not among the fifteen named.

So the recent action does not explain this removal, though it establishes that the mechanism is currently in active use.

The US Half Does Not Fit

Whatever applies in India does not account for the United States, where no equivalent app-blocking mechanism exists and no regulator has announced action against the platform.

Two possibilities present themselves, and neither is established. An Apple-side decision applying to both markets would explain the simultaneity. Two separate actions arriving together would not.

The company’s legal position in the US is unresolved. Judge Colleen McMahon ruled on August 31 in the Southern District of New York, dismissing the Securities Act claims against Baton Corporation with prejudice as to the two tokens at issue while allowing racketeering claims to proceed against Baton and its three founders. The Crypto Times has not established any connection between that ruling and the App Store removal, and none has been suggested.

Not the First Restriction

Pump.fun has been removed from markets before. It blocked UK users in December 2024 after the Financial Conduct Authority warned it was not authorized to operate there, restricting access itself rather than being removed by a platform.

The mobile app launched in February 2025 for iOS and Android, listed under entertainment, and added multichain trading across Ethereum, Base and BNB Chain in May.
