Odos Urges Users to Move Assets Before July 30 Shutdown

Key Highlights

  • Odos will permanently shut down on July 30, 2026, with the app entering read-only mode on July 27.
  • Users with wallets created through social or email login must transfer assets or export private keys before the deadline.
  • The company confirmed the ODOS token and Odos DAO will continue operating independently on-chain while warning users about shutdown-related scams.

Odos, a cryptocurrency swap aggregator, announced that it is winding down its operations. The app will switch to read-only mode on July 27, with all services shutting down permanently on July 30, 2026.

In an official announcement on Thursday, the company said Odos is non-custodial, meaning user assets remain under individual control and on-chain. However, users who created wallets through social or email login were advised to transfer assets or export their keys before the final shutdown.

To the Odos community: after much consideration, the operating company behind Odos is winding down its operations. The app moves to read-only on July 27, and all Odos services shut down permanently on July 30, 2026. Odos is non-custodial: your assets remain yours and on-chain. If… pic.twitter.com/9btbBLyhRL

What happens before Odos goes offline

The company outlined the following timeline:

  • July 23: Existing users can still perform swaps and close positions, but new signups, wallet creation, and limit orders are disabled.
  • July 27–30: The application becomes read-only, allowing users to view balances and transaction history.
  • After July 30: All Odos services will no longer be available.

Odos said there will be no further development, customer support, or maintenance after the shutdown. Users were encouraged to migrate to alternative aggregation services. Regarding the ODOS token, the announcement clarified that it exists independently on-chain. The company does not custody or control the token, and the wind-down does not affect its on-chain functionality.

The Odos DAO operates separately and will communicate its own plans independently. The company warned users to be cautious of potential scams. It explicitly stated there will be no new products, token migrations, claims, or airdrops associated with the operating company.

Any such claims from DMs, fake support accounts, or unauthorized websites should be treated as fraudulent. Users were reminded never to share seed phrases or approve suspicious transactions.

The announcement concluded with appreciation for the community that supported Odos through swaps, integrations, and development.

Crypto platforms continue announcing shutdowns

Odos joins a growing list of crypto platforms that have recently announced plans to cease operations.

Earlier today, BitMEX, a derivatives exchange and creator of the perpetual swap, said it will cease operations on September 23, 2026, after more than a decade in business.

DeFi portfolio tracker Zapper Fi is also shutting down after nearly seven years. Co-founder and CEO Seb Audet shared the news on X, thanking the community for the journey.

Meanwhile, multi-chain wallet Ctrl Wallet is scheduled to permanently close on August 3, 2026, advising users to withdraw assets and back up recovery phrases beforehand.

Why this shutdown matters for DeFi users

The shutdown of Odos highlights the short-lived nature of many DeFi projects.

Although user assets remain under users’ control because the platform is non-custodial, the shutdown requires users to take timely action to maintain uninterrupted access to their wallets and services, particularly those created through social or email logins.

The incident also serves as a reminder that while DeFi protocols and tokens may continue to exist on-chain, the companies operating user-facing applications can discontinue services, making it important for users to understand how to access and manage their assets independently.
