CoinShares Enters Europe's €26.3T UCITS Market With Bitcoin Mining ETF

In an official announcement, the digital asset manager said its first fund under the new platform, the CoinShares Bitcoin Mining UCITS ETF, began trading on Deutsche Börse Xetra on July 21.

The move marks CoinShares’ entry into the Undertakings for Collective Investment in Transferable Securities (UCITS) market, one of Europe’s most widely used regulatory frameworks for investment funds.

Targeting institutional investors

CoinShares said the UCITS platform complements its existing ETP business and expands its asset management capabilities across regulated funds, alternative investment strategies, and on-chain products.

The company said many institutional investors—including pension funds, insurance platforms, and private banks—are restricted from investing in debt-based crypto ETPs under their mandates. UCITS-compliant funds, however, are widely permitted, allowing CoinShares to serve a much larger pool of institutional capital without changing its underlying investment expertise.

According to the European Fund and Asset Management Association (EFAMA), Europe’s UCITS ecosystem held €26.3 trillion in net assets as of April 2026.

Platform for future funds

CoinShares said the platform received authorization from the Central Bank of Ireland, giving the company its own regulated UCITS structure for launching future investment products.

With the regulatory framework already in place, the firm expects to introduce additional digital asset and thematic investment strategies over time. It said future fund launches should require less time and lower incremental costs, creating greater operating leverage as assets under management grow.

Long-term growth strategy

The company described the UCITS platform as another step in diversifying its product lineup beyond exchange-traded products. By operating across multiple investment structures, CoinShares aims to generate recurring management fee revenue while reducing reliance on a single product category.

Jean-Marie Mognetti, Co-Founder, President, and Chief Executive Officer of CoinShares, said, “We have spent ten years studying this industry on the ground, and we are now translating that work into a product that meets European investors where they already are.”

He said the launch of the UCITS platform marks the company’s entry into the regulated UCITS fund market, enabling it to introduce investment funds under the framework alongside its existing crypto ETP offerings.

CoinShares said it plans to expand the platform with additional digital assets and thematic funds in the future.
