Eric Trump to Visit Tokyo for Metaplanet Shareholder Meeting

Eric Trump, son of U.S. President Donald Trump, will visit Tokyo, Japan, in September 2025. He is set to attend a shareholder meeting of Japanese Bitcoin treasury firm Metaplanet Inc.

In the meeting, the shareholders will vote on new capital-raising methods, with the focus on discussing ways to raise more money. Eric became an advisor to Metaplanet Inc. on 21st March 2025.

As reported by Bloomberg, the company’s stock has jumped 700% over the course of a year, although it has decreased from its peak in June. Metaplanet Inc. follows the example of Michael Saylor’s Strategy Inc., which also focuses on building up Bitcoin reserves. The firm started collecting Bitcoin in early 2024 and now holds over $2.1 billion in Bitcoin.

Eric’s trip follows his attendance at a Bitcoin Asia conference in Hong Kong on August 28-29. The Trump family is expanding in crypto with World Liberty Financial (WLFI), which got a $1.5 billion deal to gather digital tokens from a Las Vegas firm, which is focused on biotech and financial tech.

Further, Trump Media & Technology Group (TMTG), the company behind Truth Social, has raised over $2 billion in 2025 to purchase Bitcoin as part of its cryptocurrency investments. American Bitcoin, a company backed by Eric and Donald Trump Jr. that mines Bitcoin, is looking to buy businesses in Japan and possibly Hong Kong to increase its Bitcoin holdings, according to the Financial Times.

This move to expand the businesses in Japan and Hong Kong is part of the Trump family’s plan to take advantage of Asia’s growing interest in cryptocurrency. On August 18, 2025, Japan’s Financial Services Agency (FSA) approved the first Japanese yen-based stablecoin. The move indicates that the country is embracing crypto.

Even Japanese officials, including Finance Minister Katsunobu Kato, will speak at the WebX2025 crypto event in Tokyo on August 25-26, 2025, highlighting Japan’s focus on digital currencies.
