Bitstamp, a cryptocurrency exchange by Robinhood, has added Ethereum Classic (ETC). It is known for its proof-of-work consensus model, which preserves an unaltered transaction history, emphasizing decentralization, immutability, and trustless execution.
As per reports, the traders can trade ETC everywhere except in the United States. The platform highlights ETC’s unique features, including its compatibility with the Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM), enabling decentralized app deployment, and a conservative upgrade path prioritizing stability.
Bitstamp will list Ethereum Classic (ETC) trading pairs with USD & EUR. Ethereum Classic (ETC) has a limited total supply of about 210.7 million tokens. To keep the supply from growing too quickly, the number of new tokens created is gradually reduced over time through a process called “fifthenings.” This means fewer new ETC tokens are made as time goes on, which helps maintain the token’s value by making it scarcer.
Bitstamp by Robinhood has started letting people trade Ethereum Classic (ETC) right away, but only outside the U.S. Their website mentions that depositing ETC might take up to 24 hours.
This decision fits with Bitstamp by Robinhood’s plan to provide a reliable place for trading various cryptocurrencies, especially for those who value ETC’s original principles. The listing shows their focus on being open and educating users, as confirmed by their financial promotion, which is approved by Bitstamp UK Limited and registered with the UK’s Financial Conduct Authority.
