Will Tesla Reinstate Bitcoin and Dogecoin Payments for EVs?
Tesla currently accepts Dogecoin as payments for merchandise in its online shop only. While Elon Musk initially announced accepting Dogecoin payments for Supercharging station and cars, it is yet to be implemented.
In fact, Tesla even accepted Bitcoin in 2021 but Musk suspended it citing environmental concerns related to Bitcoin mining’s energy consumption. Since then, people are awaiting Tesla to reinstate Dogecoin and Bitcoin as payments for Tesla electric vehicles. The odds remained high as Musk stated to accept crypto at some point in the future.
With the mainstream adoption of Bitcoin and other top cryptocurrencies, especially public companies adding Bitcoin to their corporate treasury, automobile manufacturers may pivot towards accepting crypto.
