Will Ripple And Sec Settle Lawsuit In 24 Hours? Fact Check

The legal battle between Ripple and the SEC has sparked fresh speculation with rumors spreading on social media that a settlement will reach within 24 hours.

Ripple’s case information is not available on the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) website, which causes speculation that the case is nearing its conclusion.

The case between the SEC and Ripple is not available in the ‘Litigation Releases’ section on the website of the SEC. However, the case has been moved to the ‘Court of Appeals’ section, which means the legal proceedings are still ongoing.

This shift on the SEC website has been wrongfully represented on social media. Multiple influencers and users have shared it as proof that the SEC is dropping the case and Ripple will have a settlement in 24 hours.

There is no official confirmation of the case conclusion either from Ripple or the SEC, and the legal battle is still going on. The rumors about a 24-hour settlement are false but still gaining traction.

In 2020, the SEC accused Ripple of selling XRP as an unregistered security and filed a lawsuit. In July 2023, a court ruled that XRP sales on exchanges were not securities, but sales to institutional investors were.

Recently, Ripple has requested an April 16, 2025, deadline to submit its response in the ongoing case. The SEC has filed an appeal, challenging the court’s decision.

Ripple’s legal chief, Stuart Alderoty, has dismissed the SEC’s appeal as “just noise.” Attorney Jeremy Hogan criticized the SEC’s arguments, stating that it has struggled to prove that XRP was sold as a security.
