Sky Mavis is switching off the wallet system that let Axie Infinity players sign in with an email address, and anything still sitting in one after October 16 may become unreachable.
The migration does not happen automatically. Assets stay in a Waypoint wallet until the holder moves them, which means a player who stopped logging in months ago and never saw the notice is the person most at risk.
Axie Infinity published the reminder on October 2, 2026, two weeks before the deadline. Ronin Waypoint is being replaced by Ronin Stash, a new keyless wallet system the network announced in June.
Who Needs to Act
The change affects anyone who has used Waypoint, a keyless or MPC wallet, or social login on Ronin. Those are different names for the same thing: a wallet where a login replaced a seed phrase, with the key material split and managed on the user’s behalf rather than written down.
Players can check by opening the Waypoint wallet dashboard at waypoint.roninchain.com and looking for a wallet labelled Social Login Wallet or Keyless. Anyone who uses only a seed phrase wallet is unaffected and needs to do nothing.
The important case is the in-between one. Sky Mavis specifically tells users who have since moved to another wallet to check their old Waypoint wallet anyway, because leftover assets are easy to forget.
The Two Routes
Ronin Stash, for players who want to keep signing in with an email or social account. The migration page at wallet.roninchain.com/app/migrating takes a Waypoint login, lets the user select assets, and creates a new Ronin Stash address for them. After the transfer, you have to sign out of the Ronin Wallet site and sign back in using the Stash option to see the assets.
A seed phrase wallet for players who want to hold their own keys. That route runs through the transfer page rather than the migration page: sign in with the Waypoint account, select each asset, enter the destination Ronin address, and send. A batch transfer tool handles multiple NFTs.
The seed phrase route puts the burden of key management on the user permanently. The Stash route keeps the convenience of a login, which is the reason most Waypoint users chose it in the first place.
The One-Time Step That Cannot Be Undone
bAXS and badges migrate separately through app.axieinfinity.com, and this is the part that deserves the most care.
The process requires linking a seed phrase wallet to the Axie account, reviewing the badges and bAXS, ticking a box confirming the user understands the action happens once, approving any bAXS, and signing a transaction. After that signature, the badges are permanently moved to the linked seed phrase wallet.
Sky Mavis states plainly that the migration can only be completed once. A player who links the wrong wallet has no second attempt.
Some badges are attached to assets rather than held separately. Those travel with the asset when it moves, through either the wallet or the migration portal.
Check Twice, Then Check Again
The company’s own advice is to confirm that transferred assets have arrived in the destination wallet, then go back and check the Waypoint wallet for anything left behind.
That second step matters more than it sounds. Assets are easy to miss across tokens, NFTs, and game items, and after October 16 there may be no way back to look.
One further precaution the announcement does not mention: migration deadlines are among the most reliable phishing opportunities in crypto, because they create urgency and a legitimate reason to ask people to connect a wallet. Fake migration pages and support accounts tend to appear around events like this. The only addresses that should be used are Sky Mavis’s own—wallet.roninchain.com for the migration and transfer pages and app.axieinfinity.com for badges—reached by typing them rather than following a link from a direct message.
The Deadline Has Already Moved Once
Sky Mavis’s migration FAQ originally set the cutoff at September 16. It is now October 16.
That is worth knowing for two reasons. Players who saw the earlier date and assumed the window had closed still have time. And a deadline that has shifted once may shift again, which is not a reason to wait.
