Ledger Co-Founder Eric Larch Fake Kidnapping Rumor Surfaces

Rumor of Ledger co-founder Eric Larchevêque surfaced online today but was quickly dismissed.

The rumor began circulating earlier this morning when a French account on X (formerly Twitter) claimed that a Ledger executive had been abducted, with the kidnappers demanding a ransom in Bitcoin.

The post didn’t mention Larchevêque by name but included a photo of him. It also claimed that the French cops and GIGN are probing around Vierzon, France, where Larchevêque owns an estate. The alleged kidnapping reportedly took place in the nearby town of Méreau.

Gregory Raymond, CEO of The Big Whale, quickly shot down the rumors. “We can confirm that @EricLarch (cofounder of @Ledger) is not involved in the kidnappings rumour about him,” He warned that unverified information could compromise investigations in progress or endanger lives

Foresight News and other outlets reported the initial claims but later confirmed they were false. The Bitcoin Vanguard, which first mentioned the incident, highlighted ongoing police efforts but didn’t provide evidence to back up the kidnapping story.

As of now, neither Larchevêque nor Ledger has commented on the rumors.
