George Hotz stated that None of the Crypto Assets are Safe

Legendary hacker George Hotz has satirically stated in one of his articles that, ‘None of your crypto assets are safe’. These shocking allegations came after the leading artificial intelligence (AI) company, OpenAI, set free its new o3 model that has probably found a polynomial time factoring algorithm.

The hacker has highlighted an Axios article, which says computer science majors are becoming increasingly concerned about the possibility of being replaced by AI due to the o3 model showcasing extremely impressive programming abilities that already exceed those of the vast majority of developers.

According to the reports, this algorithm of OpenAI would make it possible to work with large numbers; thus, it can be a trouble for the security of many cryptographic systems. However, it is highly improbable that the crypto security can be breached without large-scale quantum computing. This would surely be considered as the invention of the century.

Hotz, who is known for founding self-driving car startup Comma.ai, rose to the heights at a young age after unlocking Apple’s iPhones and hacking the PlayStation 3.

However, many cryptocurrency enthusiasts have softened Hotz’s warning since they took it as likely to be a joke.

Adam Back, the CEO of Blockstream, has highlighted that the allegation about the cryptography systems compromising on the algorithm is “highly arguable.” Many have noted that the Axios article does not mention anything about the algorithm. Back has suggested that this could likely be simply “a misunderstood joke.”

However, some critics have suggested that the joke could be aimed at sensational headlines surrounding AI development. Hotz later clarified about this joke and said, “If you fell for this, you need to introspect and ask yourself what other AI hype you are falling for.”
