Trump NFTs Return: Melania's July 4 Collection for $50

Former U.S. First Lady Melania Trump has returned to the NFT scene, launching a new collection inspired by the upcoming Independence Day holiday. Following her husband’s previous NFT releases, Melania’s collection, named “The 1776 Collection” pays tribute to the spirit of America through digital art.

Featuring familiar American imagery, the Solana-based NFTs showcase photographs of iconic landmarks like the Statue of Liberty and Mount Rushmore. These images are skillfully animated and presented on digital placards. With a price tag of $50 per piece, the collection consists of seven unique designs, resulting in a total run of 3,500 NFTs.

The sale of Melania Trump’s NFTs is taking place on the USA Collectibles website, and the announcement was also shared on Melania’s official Twitter account. Additionally, the website offers “POTUS TRUMP” NFTs, which display photos of the former president and first lady. While the NFT website does not explicitly mention it, a Fox News report suggests that a portion of the sales will support Fostering the Future, a program within Melania Trump’s Be Best initiative, aimed at assisting foster children.

This is not the first foray into the NFT space for the Trump family. Melania Trump led the way in December 2021, releasing her initial NFT. Although not associated with the Solana blockchain, the Solana Labs clarified that it was not a “Solana-led initiative.” In 2022, Melania expanded her collection, followed by her husband, Donald Trump, who released a highly popular set of digital trading cards. The cards, totaling 45,000 NFTs on the Ethereum scaling network Polygon, were sold for $99 each, offering exclusive perks such as a dinner with the former president or a group Zoom meeting invitation.

Despite initial ridicule, the Trump NFTs sold out within 24 hours, causing their resale value to soar. At their peak, the Trump cards reached prices of over $1,000 on secondary marketplaces, generating over $20 million in sales. Subsequently, Donald Trump launched an additional 47,000 NFTs in April at the same $99 price point, leading to a significant drop in the value of the original collection.

As Melania Trump re-enters the NFT market, her “1776 Collection” offers a fresh opportunity for collectors and fans to own a piece of American history. With its patriotic imagery and connection to a charitable cause, the collection promises to capture the essence of American pride and ignite enthusiasm among NFT enthusiasts nationwide.
