Opera launches Web3 Browser

In Brief:

  • Opera browser launches beta version of Crypto browser for Mac, Android and Window users.
  • Users will be able to access DApps, Metaverse, and Cryptos through the browser.
  • Using In-built non-custodial wallet, users can buy, sell and swap cryptocurrency.

Norway-based web browser company, Opera introduced a beta version of crypto browser to allow Mac, Android, and Windows users to access decentralized apps (dApps). Using this web browser users can also enter into metaverse and games. Basically, Opera is taking on new Web 3 developments.

At present, the Opera browser consists of a no-log browser VPN and native ad blocker and tracker blocker that ensure security. The company revealed to keep these features in the beta version to maintain safety while integrating with decentralized exchange, projects, Metaverse, and gaming DApps.

The browser also includes a new native non-custodial crypto wallet which allows users to access crypto or sign into dApps directly from the browser, without installing any extensions.

Jorgen Arnesen, EVP mobile at Opera, disclosed that the launch will help to achieve the goal of crypto and Web 3 mainstream adoption. He said “Opera’s Crypto Browser Project promises a simpler, faster, more private Web3 experience for users. It simplifies the Web3 user experience that is often bewildering for mainstream users. Opera believes Web3 has to be easy to use for the decentralized web to reach its full potential.”

The beta version of the browser also contains an in-built non-custodial wallet that supports Ethereum. With the collaboration, soon it will integrate with Polygon, Solana, Nervos Network, Celo, and naming systems such as Unstoppable Domains, Handshake, and Ethereum Name Service.

The crypto wallet supports fungible ERC-20 tokens and non-fungible ERC-721 tokens along with upcoming ERC-1155. Users can buy, sell or swap crypto through the in-built wallet. Also, this wallet provides access to the NFT gallery too.

Opera Web browser seems like the company wants to explore web 3 developments. Recently, Opera has announced a partnership with Polygon network to provide Opera users in-browser access to over 3000 dApps on the network.
