A cluster of crypto-linked stocks pushed higher on Monday, October 5, extending a risk-on mood that has carried digital assets into the start of the fourth quarter. The gains were broad across a group often used as a proxy for crypto sentiment, with Bitcoin’s strength and shifting Federal Reserve expectations providing a common market backdrop.
In Monday’s regular session, according to Yahoo Finance data viewed around 07:40 AM UTC on October 6, Coinbase Global (COIN) closed at $188.22, up 2.85%, and Circle Internet Group (CRCL) at $83.30, up 2.52%. Tesla (TSLA) finished at $378.73, up 2.20%, while Robinhood Markets (HOOD) rose 1.22% to $114.11, the most modest gainer of the four. Overnight quotes were little changed, and prices move continuously.
The Common Thread: Bitcoin Firm, Fed-Hike Bets Fading
Bitcoin provided a common backdrop for the four stocks. BTC was trading around 86,000–86,600 on Monday, holding its ground as market expectations shifted further away from a Federal Reserve rate hike at the October 27–28 meeting.
That shift followed September’s weak U.S. jobs report, which showed 29,000 payrolls added, well below the roughly 90,000 increase economists had expected. The softer labor-market data reduced pressure for additional monetary tightening and supported a broader risk-on tone.
Spot Bitcoin ETF flows also remained a market factor, while the seasonal “Uptober” narrative added to the positive crypto sentiment. Bitcoin, however, remained well below its roughly $126,080 record from October 6, 2025. The current move therefore represents a recovery within a broader market cycle rather than a new record run.
For crypto-linked equities, a firmer Bitcoin price can improve sentiment toward businesses whose revenues or valuations are exposed to crypto activity, while lower expectations for additional rate hikes can support risk assets more broadly.
This is a pattern The Crypto Times has tracked through 2026: from when MSTR, COIN and Circle surged as Bitcoin neared $80K to the broader September rebound in crypto stocks. The relationship is visible, but the magnitude of each stock’s move still depends on its own business and valuation.
The Stock-By-Stock Picture
Coinbase (COIN), +2.85%. As a major U.S. crypto exchange, Coinbase has relatively direct exposure to crypto-market activity, with trading volumes and asset prices influencing parts of its transaction revenue. It also had a company-specific development. Just days earlier, a federal court in Illinois temporarily blocked enforcement of an Illinois gambling-related restriction involving Coinbase and Kalshi’s prediction-market contracts, while finding that the contracts were likely subject to federal commodities regulation. The preliminary ruling could be relevant to Coinbase’s expanding prediction-markets business, although litigation and regulatory questions remain.

Circle (CRCL), +2.52%. The issuer of the USDC stablecoin benefits from growing stablecoin usage and the federal regulatory framework established by the GENIUS Act. Circle earns income on the reserves backing USDC, meaning changes in interest rates and the amount of USDC in circulation can affect its reserve-related revenue. A stronger crypto market can also support demand for stablecoin infrastructure, although that does not make Circle’s share price a direct proxy for Bitcoin.

Robinhood (HOOD), +1.22%. The retail brokerage has expanded into crypto, prediction markets and tokenization, leaving its results exposed to changes in trading activity. A stronger risk appetite can support retail participation across crypto and equities, potentially benefiting transaction-related activity, although the stock also reflects Robinhood’s broader brokerage and financial-services businesses. It was the most modest gainer of the four on Monday.

Tesla (TSLA), +2.20%. Tesla is the outlier and has the least direct connection to the crypto market among the four stocks. Its Monday gain should not automatically be attributed to Bitcoin. Tesla’s performance is driven primarily by its own operations, valuation and investor sentiment around Elon Musk.
Musk’s broader corporate profile also remains relevant. His separately listed SpaceX has surged this month, returning him to trillionaire status. Tesla and SpaceX also hold more than 30,000 Bitcoin combined, giving the companies some indirect exposure to BTC prices. That makes Tesla crypto-linked, but not a pure crypto trade.

High Beta Cuts Both Ways
The same market dynamics that can lift crypto-linked equities can also work against them. Stocks with significant crypto exposure can experience larger moves when crypto sentiment changes, but the relationship varies by company and market conditions.
Monday’s gains alone do not establish a new trend. The rate-expectation catalyst can reverse if incoming economic data changes the market’s view of the Fed or if the October 27–28 meeting delivers a more hawkish signal.
Each company also carries distinct risks: Coinbase and Robinhood face trading-volume, regulatory and competitive risks; Circle is exposed to interest rates, stablecoin adoption and competition; and Tesla remains driven primarily by automotive, energy, valuation and company-specific factors.
The Crypto Times is not forecasting where any of these stocks or Bitcoin will trade next.
What To Watch
Monday’s moves show how crypto exposure has spread across listed equities. An exchange, stablecoin issuer and brokerage can respond to changes in Bitcoin sentiment and crypto activity, while Tesla has a much more indirect connection through its Bitcoin holdings and Musk’s broader corporate ecosystem.
For investors, that creates several different ways to gain or express exposure to the crypto market through publicly traded companies — but each comes with risks that Bitcoin itself does not have, including company earnings, regulation, valuation and operational execution.
As Bitcoin’s “Uptober” narrative develops, the performance of crypto-linked equities may continue to offer a useful gauge of risk appetite around digital assets, while their individual moves will still depend on company-specific catalysts.
