Binance will restructure its account system by moving users’ non-stock cryptocurrency holdings from Funding Accounts to Spot Accounts, as the exchange prepares to turn the Funding Account into a dedicated Stocks Account in January 2027.
According to Binance’s official announcement published on September 22, 2026, the process runs from September 29, 2026, through January 2027, with detailed batch dates to be shared later. The exchange said the changes are intended to “simplify the user account structure and improve asset management.” Products and services in the notice may not be available in every region.
Once the transition is complete, the Stocks Account will be used for stock and stock-options trading settlement, while cryptocurrency deposits and withdrawals for other assets will be handled through Spot Accounts.
Crypto migration starts September 29
Beginning September 29, 2026, Binance will disable on-chain deposits to Funding Accounts. Users will still be able to use the account for stock and stock-options trading with six settlement assets: USD, USDC, USDT, USD1, U, and BNB.
Non-stock Crypto assets already held in Funding Accounts can be moved to Spot Accounts. Binance will add a “One-Click Migration” button on the Funding Account so users can move their holdings before the automatic process begins. The feature requires the latest iOS or Android app; older app versions will not show it.
Users who do not complete the transfer will not need to take manual action. Binance said it will automatically move remaining non-stock assets in batches starting in January 2027. The company said assets move on a 1:1 basis.
The exchange said the process will not affect users’ aggregate asset balances or the safety of their funds. Historical transactions will also retain the original Funding Account label.
Changes across Binance services
The restructuring will affect several Binance products that currently use Funding Accounts.
From September 29, assets received through Binance Pay will be credited to Spot Accounts. Funding Accounts will remain available as a Pay funding source temporarily, but they will be removed before the rebrand. Assets in the future Stocks Account will not be deducted for Pay.
Binance said recurring send plans that rely solely on Funding Accounts will stop executing after that change unless users set up new payment sources.
Assets received through Binance Card and Gift Card services will also be credited to Spot Accounts from September 29.
Binance Convert will similarly move toward Spot Accounts. Existing limit orders (including TPSL) with assets frozen in Funding Accounts will remain frozen and settle to Spot Accounts after September 29. Expired limit orders will also settle to Spot. New limit orders created from that date will freeze and settle exclusively through Spot Accounts.
Recurring Convert orders will settle to Spot or Earn Accounts, while failed recurring-order refunds will be returned to Spot Accounts. Binance has also asked users with API integrations to update references from Funding Accounts to Spot Accounts.
From September 29, Binance Alpha 2.0 limit-order buys and sells of Alpha tokens will debit and credit stablecoins in users’ Alpha Accounts. Rebates under the Limit Order Liquidity Providers Program will also go to Alpha Accounts.
P2P trading gets separate changes
Binance’s peer-to-peer marketplace will undergo additional changes during the restructuring.
From September 29, P2P users with no ad history (FAQ: none in the last three months) or without merchant status will use Spot Accounts as the default funding source after updating to the latest Binance app.
P2P advertisers will continue using Funding Accounts through December 2026. Binance plans to introduce a dedicated P2P Account for advertisers in December and will guide them through moving assets linked to their advertisements.
The exchange said ads that have not been migrated to the new P2P Account after January 2027 will be automatically closed.
Stocks account to replace funding account
The restructuring follows Binance’s recent expansion into stock-related products. On September 1, the exchange launched physically settled U.S. stock options covering U.S.-listed stocks and ETFs. The move adds context to Binance’s plan to create a separate account for stock and stock-options settlement.
The Funding Account will be renamed the Stocks Account in January 2027, although Binance has not yet announced the exact date.
Under the new structure, crypto assets will be held through Spot Accounts, while the Stocks Account will support stock and stock-options trading plus the six settlement assets.
Binance advises users to update their iOS or Android apps to use the “One-Click Migration” feature. Those who do not migrate manually will have their assets moved automatically.
Binance has yet to publish the detailed schedule for the automatic migration batches. The company said further dates will be announced as the transition progresses.
