World, formerly known as Worldcoin, has begun rolling out World Money, a self-custody financial super app that packages stablecoins, global transfers, trading, virtual accounts, and on-chain earning into one wallet. Co-founded by OpenAI’s Sam Altman, World is a proof-of-human network that uses World ID and the WLD token,

In the official blog, published on September 17, the company said the product is starting to reach users in more than 150 countries, with features and eligibility varying by jurisdiction. The launch is a crypto-native product shift as much as a branding one.

World Money launches in 150+ countries, introducing self-custody stablecoins and WLD token to mainstream users.
Earn feature routes deposits through Morpho, offering variable APY but exposing users to smart‑contract and liquidity risks.
Integration of trading, mini‑apps, and virtual accounts aims to boost WLD demand and expand crypto market participation.

World, the network behind World ID and the WLD token, is separating identity tools from money tools. Existing World App and World ID App users keep their verification and credentials. New users still need to sign up.

With the launch, World is trying to make self-custody look like a consumer finance app while routing deposits, rewards, and payments through digital assets and third-party on-chain protocols.

Stablecoins, WLD, and Morpho-powered Earn

World describes World Money as a home for adding funds, growing assets, and spending them. Users can hold U.S. dollar-linked stablecoins and supported local-currency stablecoins intended for everyday use. Transfers between World Money users can be sent with a World username and are typically completed within seconds, though timing depends on payment method and destination.

The Earn tab is the most explicit DeFi hook. Eligible assets, including Worldcoin (WLD), USDC, and wARS, can be deposited into Earn programs to accrue rewards over time. Official disclosures say those assets go into Morpho, an independent on-chain protocol, where they may be lent to other users. Rewards, described as APY, are variable, not guaranteed, and may change daily. Withdrawals depend on on-chain liquidity and protocol conditions and may not be immediate. Principal is not guaranteed and may be at risk from smart-contract failure or protocol default.

World ID is used as a financial filter, not only an identity badge. The company says World Money works with World ID to unlock a limited-time promotional rewards boost on eligible Earn programs. That ties biometric proof-of-human credentials to yield access, a model World has used before in its broader app stack, including earlier World App updates that combined payments, Mini Apps, and earning.

Investing sits beside Earn. World Money says users can trade assets including Worldcoin, bitcoin, ethereum, and selected real-world assets such as gold. Cryptocurrency and other digital-asset investments are volatile and involve risk of loss, including total loss of principal, according to the product’s own footnotes.

Mini Apps, virtual accounts, and uneven access

World Money also functions as a distribution layer for third-party crypto and fintech services. The announcement lists Mini Apps such as Kalshi, Credit, and Morpho inside the same wallet. Virtual accounts, provided with licensed partner or issuing banks, are presented as a way to receive funds that convert into supported digital assets. Availability of those rails is country-specific.

That geographic caveat matters for any WLD or stablecoin narrative. Eligibility for Worldcoin (WLD) tokens is restricted by geography, age, and other factors. World Assets, Ltd. and World Foundation say they are not responsible for WLD availability on third-party exchanges. The company points readers to its risks page and user terms.

For crypto markets, the product is an attempt to give WLD a clearer in-app use case: payments, deposits, and boosted Earn, rather than identity alone. It also continues World’s long push to put verified humans on-chain, a theme that previously included the launch of World Chain and later World ID integrations outside finance.

What the official materials do not claim is uniform global access, guaranteed yield, or bank-level protection. Rates can change. Features differ by country. Users hold their own keys in a self-custody wallet, which means recovery, protocol risk, and asset support lists sit with the user as much as with the app.

World’s pitch is that money has already moved into phones, and a proof-of-human network should sit underneath that flow. World Money is the company’s latest attempt to make that claim look like a wallet people can actually use.
