The expanded Cashtag feature lets users view asset prices and related posts before tapping “Trade” to continue on a participating brokerage’s platform.

Key Highlights

  • X has launched its Cashtag Partner Program in the U.S., linking users to Coinbase, Kraken, Gemini, Interactive Brokers and Moomoo.
  • Users can tap a Cashtag to see price data and related posts, then select “Trade” to continue to a partner brokerage.
  • X said its Cashtag trading pilot generated an estimated $1 billion in global trading volume within three days of launch.

Elon Musk’s social media platform X has expanded its Cashtag feature in the United States by adding links to participating trading platforms, allowing users to move from an asset page to a partner brokerage.

In a post on Tuesday, the company announced the X Cashtag Partner Program with Interactive Brokers, Moomoo, Gemini, Kraken and Coinbase into the new setup.

A user can search for or post a Cashtag, such as a stock or crypto ticker, and tap it to open the asset’s page. From there, X shows the asset’s price chart and related posts. Users can then tap “Trade” and continue to a participating brokerage to complete the transaction.

This means the conversation around an asset and the trading process now sit much closer together on X. Instead of only seeing what people are saying about a stock or cryptocurrency, users can follow the market information and then move to a brokerage account from the same Cashtag page.

X Product Engineering Lead Mridul Singhai explained the change by saying, “Cashtags close the gap between a ticker on the timeline and the market itself.”

The Crypto Times has reached out to Coinbase, Kraken, and Gemini for comments on the new X Cashtag Partner Program and their role as trading partners.

How the new system works

The process has four main steps. Users first find an asset through a Cashtag. They then open the Cashtag to check its price and related posts.

After that, they choose a brokerage partner and move to its mobile app or website. The trade itself is completed on the brokerage platform.

Cashtags started with market data

The new trading links are built on a Cashtag system that X launched on April 14, 2026. The first version was available to iPhone users in the United States and Canada and gave users a way to interact with stock and crypto symbols directly on the platform.

Before the brokerage program, Cashtags already allowed users to see price movements, market discussions and related information in one place. X also supports crypto contract addresses, allowing users to search for certain crypto assets beyond normal ticker symbols.

When a user enters a ticker or contract address, X can suggest the correct asset. Once selected, the Cashtag page can show price information across periods ranging from one day to one year, along with posts connected to that asset.

X reported $1 billion in volume

The feature also gained early attention from traders. A few days after its launch, X Head of Product Nikita Bier said the company’s trading pilot had generated an estimated $1 billion in trading volume globally just three days after the Cashtag feature launched. The figure was based on aggregated data from the pilot and was reported by X.

The latest update adds another step to that system by connecting Cashtags with brokerage accounts. Coinbase also confirmed its inclusion among the first group of partners, alongside Interactive Brokers, Moomoo, Gemini and Kraken.

X said the new program is meant to connect financial conversations with trading access. For users, that means a Cashtag can now lead from a market discussion and price chart to a brokerage where the actual trade can be placed.
