Wyoming Adds Chainlink Proof of Reserve to FRNT Stablecoin

Wyoming plans to put FRNT reserve data onchain through Chainlink while keeping its existing daily attestations and independent examination process.

Wyoming Adds Chainlink Proof of Reserve to FRNT Stablecoin

Key Highlights

  • The Wyoming Stable Token Commission plans to use Chainlink Proof of Reserve for FRNT.
  • Reserve and supply information will be published onchain alongside independent examinations.
  • FRNT already has daily reserve attestations under Wyoming’s stable token framework.

The Wyoming Stable Token Commission has adopted Chainlink Proof of Reserve to publish reserve-related information for FRNT, the state’s dollar-pegged stablecoin.

The commission announced on September 2, saying the system will work alongside FRNT’s existing reserve reporting and independent examination process.

The development comes as stablecoin issuers face increasing scrutiny over how reserves are reported, examined, and connected to the amount of tokens in circulation.

Chainlink to publish FRNT reserve information

Under the planned arrangement, The Network Firm will examine FRNT’s reserves and token supply under AICPA standards, while Chainlink infrastructure will publish the resulting information onchain.

The two systems serve different functions. The examination assesses the reported reserve information, while Chainlink provides infrastructure for making that information available on a blockchain.

That description comes from Chainlink. Wyoming already publishes daily reserve attestations for FRNT, meaning the new system does not introduce reserve reporting.

Instead, the change concerns how reserve-related information is published and accessed.

GENIUS Act sets the regulatory backdrop

The initiative follows the GENIUS Act, which established federal requirements for payment stablecoins, including provisions covering reserves, disclosures, and examinations.

Chainlink said its system is designed to provide more frequent access to reserve information than the federal disclosure schedule.

The distinction between disclosure and verification remains important. Publishing information on a blockchain does not mean the underlying assets are continuously audited.

The accuracy of the information still depends on the examination process, the data supplied to the system, and the mechanisms used to publish it.

Wyoming developing reserve-linked minting system

The commission is also working on a Proof of Reserve Secure Mint system for FRNT.

The proposed mechanism would connect the creation of new FRNT tokens with reserve conditions. If implemented as planned, reserve verification could become a requirement before additional tokens are issued.

This would serve a different purpose from Proof of Reserve reporting. The latter provides information about reserves and supply, while a Secure Mint mechanism would potentially place conditions on new issuance.

The commission has not yet moved the proposed system into full production, so its final implementation and operating details remain to be established.

FRNT already uses Chainlink for cross-chain transfers

The reserve initiative follows Wyoming’s August integration of Chainlink’s Cross-Chain Interoperability Protocol (CCIP) for FRNT transfers.

CCIP is intended to facilitate movement of FRNT between supported blockchains, while Proof of Reserve concerns information about the stablecoin’s reserves and supply.

The two integrations therefore address different parts of FRNT’s infrastructure.

Wyoming’s stablecoin was launched in 2026

Wyoming launched FRNT on Solana in January 2026, under the state’s stable token framework.

The token is designed to maintain a one-to-one value with the U.S. dollar and is backed by reserves that, under Wyoming’s framework, can include U.S. dollars and short-term U.S. Treasury securities.

The state has said income generated from those reserves is intended to support its School Foundation Program.

The latest Chainlink initiative does not change FRNT’s stated reserve structure or dollar peg. It concerns the way reserve information is published and made available.

What Proof of Reserve can show

Blockchain-based reserve reporting can make information easier to access and allow users to see when data was published.

It does not, by itself, establish that assets held outside the blockchain exist or remain available.

For example, blockchain infrastructure can record a reserve figure supplied by an examination or other reporting process, but it cannot independently inspect dollars or Treasury securities held with financial institutions.

That means the examination and reporting process remains an important part of assessing FRNT’s backing.

What changes for FRNT

The latest initiative adds another reporting mechanism to FRNT’s existing infrastructure.

Wyoming already publishes daily attestations, while its earlier CCIP integration addresses cross-chain transfers. The planned Proof of Reserve system would add onchain publication of reserve-related information, while the proposed Secure Mint mechanism could eventually connect reserve conditions with new token issuance.

The key question will be whether the system provides timely and independently examined information that can be reconciled with FRNT’s circulating supply.

For now, the announcement represents a change in how FRNT’s reserve information is published and accessed, rather than a change to the stablecoin’s underlying reserves or its dollar peg.
