Cathie Wood’s ARK Invest added to its Solana-related exposure and traded several semiconductor stocks on Friday, August 28, 2026, according to the firm’s daily trade notifications. For crypto-focused readers, the most direct move was another purchase of the 3iQ Solana Staking ETF, while ARK also sold Advanced Micro Devices (AMD) and bought Nvidia (NVDA) and Broadcom (AVGO) across several funds.
ARK notes that its trade notifications reflect portfolio adjustments made by its investment team but do not constitute an endorsement or recommendation to buy, sell, or hold any security. The files are also unofficial, unreconciled and exclude certain transactions, including ETF creation and redemption activity.
The Crypto Angle: Another Solana ETF Buy
ARK added to the 3iQ Solana Staking ETF (Toronto Stock Exchange: SOLQ.U) through two of its funds: the ARK Next Generation Internet ETF (ARKW) bought 5,841 units, and the ARK Fintech Innovation ETF (ARKF) bought 3,914 units, a combined 9,755 units. The purchases represented a small portion of the respective funds, at approximately 0.0027% of ARKW and 0.0040% of ARKF, based on the trade data.
The 3iQ product, managed by Canadian asset manager 3iQ, provides exposure to Solana’s price performance and staking rewards through an exchange-traded structure, rather than through a direct purchase of SOL. 3iQ describes the product as a Solana staking ETF.
The August 28 purchases add to ARK’s existing position in the product. The firm has also made purchases of the ETF at several points during August, including August 13, 18, and 21, according to its trade disclosures. The latest transactions therefore extend ARK’s existing Solana ETF exposure.
Ark Sells AMD, Buys Nvidia and Broadcom
The day’s largest disclosed activity by the number of shares traded across funds was in semiconductor stocks. ARK sold AMD across five funds, i.e. ARKK, ARKQ, ARKW, ARKF, and ARKX, for a combined 156,286 shares.
At the same time, ARK bought Nvidia across the same five funds, purchasing a combined 243,707 shares. ARK also bought Broadcom in three funds: ARKK, ARKQ, and ARKW, for a combined 55,131 shares.
The semiconductor trades also have an indirect connection to the crypto industry. Nvidia’s GPUs are widely used in AI computing infrastructure, while several Bitcoin miners have been expanding into AI data centers as they seek additional uses for their power and infrastructure assets. However, there is no indication in ARK’s trade notification that its Nvidia or Broadcom purchases were related to the Bitcoin-mining industry’s AI transition.
Genomics and Health Trades
ARK also traded several biotechnology and genomics companies on August 28. The ARK Innovation ETF (ARKK) and ARK Genomic Revolution ETF (ARKG) bought Veracyte (VCYT), with ARKK purchasing 161,233 shares and ARKG purchasing 51,840 shares.
ARKG also bought Intellia Therapeutics (NTLA) and added a position in Scribe Therapeutics (SCTX), while ARK trimmed Twist Bioscience (TWST) across ARKK and ARKG.
These transactions are part of ARK’s broader actively managed portfolio activity and are separate from the firm’s digital-asset-related purchases.
The Bottom Line
ARK Invest’s August 28 trade disclosures show continued purchases of the 3iQ Solana Staking ETF alongside substantial trading in semiconductor stocks, including AMD, Nvidia, and Broadcom.
The Solana ETF purchases extend ARK’s existing exposure to Solana through an exchange-traded product, while the AMD sales and Nvidia and Broadcom purchases represent changes across several actively managed funds.
The transactions are notable for crypto investors because they add to ARK’s existing digital-asset exposure, but the firm’s disclosures do not explain the reasoning behind individual trades. The Crypto Times therefore does not interpret the transactions as investment recommendations or forecasts.
