Crypto Market Holds Steady Ahead of Warsh’s Jackson Hole Speech
Bitcoin (BTC) was trading at $79,220 shortly before Federal Reserve Chair Kevin Warsh’s Jackson Hole address, with the world’s largest cryptocurrency down just 0.1% over the past 24 hours.
Ethereum (ETH) was also little changed at $2,501, while XRP traded at $1.42. BNB stood at $704.56, and Solana (SOL) was at $105.05, up about 0.9% on the day.
The relatively muted moves suggest traders are holding positions steady ahead of Warsh’s 10:00 a.m. ET speech rather than making large directional bets before hearing his policy message.
The broader market has nevertheless had a strong week, according to data sourced from Coingecko. Bitcoin is up 3.5% over seven days, Ethereum has gained 5.4%, XRP is up 5.2%, while Solana has climbed more than 16%.
Attention now turns to whether Warsh’s comments on inflation, interest rates and monetary policy shift expectations for the Fed’s next move and trigger a sharper reaction across crypto markets.
Why Is the Fed’s Symposium Held at Jackson Hole?
The Federal Reserve Bank of Kansas City began hosting its annual economic policy symposium in 1978, but Jackson Hole did not become its permanent home until 1982.
The move to Wyoming was partly an effort to attract then-Federal Reserve Chair Paul Volcker, who was known to be an enthusiastic fly fisherman.
Organizers chose Jackson Lake Lodge in Grand Teton National Park, an area known for trout fishing. Volcker attended the 1982 gathering, helping raise the profile of what was then a relatively small central banking conference.
Since then, Jackson Hole has grown into one of the world’s most closely watched economic policy gatherings, bringing together central bankers, economists, academics and policymakers each year.
Speeches delivered at the symposium can influence expectations for interest rates, inflation and monetary policy, which is why markets closely follow remarks from the Fed chair and other major central bankers.
What Time Is Kevin Warsh’s Jackson Hole Speech?
Federal Reserve Chair Kevin Warsh is scheduled to speak at 8:00 a.m. local time in Jackson Hole on Friday, or 10:00 a.m. ET (2:00 p.m. GMT).
For readers in India, the speech begins at 7:30 p.m. IST.
The three-day Jackson Hole Economic Policy Symposium began Thursday evening with an opening reception and dinner.
Friday’s keynote will be Warsh’s first major public address since becoming Fed chair, outside the press conferences that followed the Federal Reserve’s June and July policy meetings.
The Crypto Times will cover Warsh’s remarks and the market reaction live.
Who Is Kevin Warsh?
Kevin Warsh is the chairman of the Federal Reserve and the Federal Open Market Committee (FOMC), placing him at the center of U.S. interest-rate and monetary policy decisions. He took office as Fed chair on May 22, 2026, after being nominated by President Donald Trump and confirmed by the Senate.
This is Warsh’s second stint at the central bank. He previously served on the Federal Reserve Board of Governors from 2006 to 2011, including during the 2008 global financial crisis. During that period, he represented the Fed at the G20 and worked extensively on financial markets and monetary policy.
Before joining the Fed for the first time, Warsh served in the White House National Economic Council under President George W. Bush from 2002 to 2006. He earlier worked at Morgan Stanley in its mergers and acquisitions division.
After leaving the Fed in 2011, Warsh became a fellow at Stanford University’s Hoover Institution and taught at Stanford Graduate School of Business. His work has focused heavily on monetary policy, financial markets and central-bank governance.
Warsh holds an undergraduate degree from Stanford University and a law degree from Harvard Law School.
Kevin Warsh Takes Center Stage at Jackson Hole
Welcome to The Crypto Times’ live coverage of Federal Reserve Chair Kevin Warsh’s address at the Jackson Hole Economic Policy Symposium in Wyoming.
Markets are watching closely for signals on inflation, interest rates and the broader U.S. economic outlook, with Warsh’s speech carrying added weight just three months into his tenure as Fed chair.
A key focus will be whether Warsh sticks to his relatively restrained approach to monetary policy communication or offers clearer guidance on what could push the Federal Reserve toward higher interest rates.
His remarks are also likely to draw attention from crypto markets, where Bitcoin (BTC) and other risk assets remain sensitive to changes in rate expectations, bond yields and the U.S. dollar.
Warsh’s keynote opens two days of discussions involving central bankers, economists and policymakers from around the world.
