Kylie Jenner’s verified X account, which carries roughly 39.5 million followers, was briefly used late on August 24, 2026 to promote a freshly minted Solana memecoin. The two posts were removed within minutes of publication, but not before the associated $kylie token surged to an all-time high market capitalization of $1.21 million and then collapsed by more than 90% to below $120,000.
Neither Jenner nor her representatives have issued any public statement about the incident nor confirmed a hack at the time of writing.
Timeline of the Compromised Posts
The first message appeared on the @KylieJenner account at 21:43:42 UTC on August 24, 2026 and read: “welll lets try this trading thing out… follow me on pumpfun cutekjenner.”
Two minutes and 41 seconds later, at 21:46:23 UTC, a second post carried a ticker and the full Solana contract address:
“$kylie 6b7KQsXqb6JR5Nmeer5zGRmo51dwDfttM5b5Nu2rpump.”
The two messages drew roughly 50,000 and 33,000 views respectively before being wiped from the timeline. On-chain tracker SolanaFloor publicly flagged the activity at 22:10:53 UTC, describing the account as “likely compromised.”
$kylie Token Price Action and Current State
The token tied to the contract address launched on Pump.fun, Solana’s dominant memecoin launchpad, moments before Jenner’s posts went live. Buying pressure from the promotional messages pushed its market capitalization from a near-zero base to an all-time high of $1.21 million within minutes, according to on-chain data.
Once the posts were deleted and the compromise narrative took hold, aggressive selling followed and the market cap tumbled below $120,000, a drawdown of more than 90% from the peak.
As of approximately 11:00 UTC on August 25, roughly 13 hours after the token went live, $kylie was changing hands at a market cap of about $167,000 across 3,453 holders, having traded in a volatile range between $140,000 and $260,000 through the morning session on Pump.fun.
A Familiar Playbook on Pump.fun
The incident fits a pattern that has repeated itself across the celebrity-memecoin cycle since mid-2024. Compromised accounts belonging to rapper 50 Cent ($GUNIT) and actor Dean Norris ($DEAN), among others, have been used to promote short-lived Solana tokens, most of them minted on Pump.fun.
In May 2026, the long-dormant Roaring Kitty account belonging to Keith Gill was reactivated in near-identical fashion to promote a token called $RKC, which briefly touched a $12 million market cap before collapsing.
Pump.fun itself has been on the receiving end of similar attacks. Its official X account was compromised in February 2025 and used to shill a fake “official” PUMP governance token, and its Instagram handle was breached in April 2026.
The mechanics rely on the same asymmetry each time. The attacker knows the post is a scam, but the millions of followers behind a verified account do not. Even if a very small fraction acts on the message, buying pressure on a fresh, low-liquidity token is enough to send it vertically, at which point wallets that accumulated supply pre-launch dump into the spike.
Within minutes of the original messages being deleted, a wave of imitator tokens using the “kylie” name and Jenner’s profile image began appearing on Pump.fun and other Solana venues.
At least one rival kylie-branded token has briefly touched a market cap above $1 million on secondary trading, according to on-chain observers, mirroring the copycat behaviour that followed the Mbappé and Roaring Kitty compromises.
No Official Statement Yet
At the time of writing, neither Jenner’s team, the X security desk, nor Pump.fun has issued a formal statement about the breach. It remains unclear how the account was accessed, whether two-factor authentication was enabled, and whether any recovery process has been initiated.
