Robinhood Stock Edge Lower as UK Crypto Expansion Gets Underway

Key Highlights

  • Robinhood shares fell 0.17% to $93.13 despite the company expanding cryptocurrency trading services to eligible UK customers.
  • The UK rollout offers more than 50 digital assets, including Bitcoin, Ether, XRP, and HYPE, through Robinhood’s Bitstamp UK platform.
  • Robinhood initially charges zero trading, account maintenance, and custody fees, although users face foreign exchange charges of 0.1% and up to 0.3% for certain weekend conversions.

Robinhood Markets Inc. (NASDAQ: HOOD) shares edged lower on Monday despite the company’s announcement that it was expanding cryptocurrency trading services to the United Kingdom. The stock fell $0.16, or 0.17%, to $93.13, according to market data.

According to Yahoo Finance data (as of 08:23 UTC), trading opened at $93.41, slightly above the previous close of $93.29. The shares traded in a range of $92.40 to $94.01 during the session. Volume remained light at approximately 1.39 million shares, well below the average daily volume of more than 26.5 million.

Robinhood’s market capitalization stood at roughly $83.94 billion, with a trailing twelve-month price-to-earnings ratio of 41.31 and earnings per share of $2.26. The stock’s beta of 2.32 indicates higher volatility relative to the broader market. Analysts’ one-year target price consensus sits at $119.82, while the next earnings report is scheduled for November 4, 2026.

Robinhood rolls out trading for UK customers

The modest decline came as Robinhood began rolling out cryptocurrency trading to eligible customers in the United Kingdom. The company is integrating more than 50 digital assets into its primary investment application through Bitstamp UK Ltd., the crypto-asset service provider it acquired last year for $200 million. Bitstamp UK is registered with the UK Financial Conduct Authority.

According to a previous report by The Crypto Times, the service is set to begin rolling out to eligible UK customers this week. Users will be able to buy and sell digital assets alongside stocks, shares, ISAs, options, and futures within a single interface.

The UK offering includes major cryptocurrencies such as Bitcoin, Ether, XRP, and HYPE, with more than 50 tokens available at launch. Robinhood stated that the service will initially charge zero trading, account maintenance, and custody fees. Customers will, however, incur a 0.1% foreign exchange fee, which rises to 0.3% for certain weekend currency conversions.

Despite the expansion, the shares traded lower in the session. The intraday chart showed an early decline from levels near $94.50, followed by a period of consolidation around the $93.20–$93.50 zone.

HOOD trading remains subdued

The stock briefly fell below $93 during the session before stabilizing near $93.13. Trading volume remained significantly below the stock’s average daily volume.

The UK expansion adds another market for Robinhood’s cryptocurrency services, while the company continues to operate within the regulatory framework governing digital-asset services in the UK.

The financial impact of the UK rollout will depend on factors including customer adoption, trading activity, fees, and the costs associated with operating the service.
