CoinDCX, among India’s top crypto exchanges, has partnered with the Indian Cyber Crime Coordination Centre (I4C) and the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) to launch a cyber safety awareness campaign called ‘Satark Rahe.’
The campaign went live on June 3, coinciding with this month’s Cyber Jaagrookta Diwas, a national initiative observed on the first Wednesday of every month under the I4C. The initiative is designed to spread awareness about cybercrime and digital safety across the country, particularly through social media.
What is Satark Rahe?
According to CoinDCX, the campaign uses a fictional character called Satark to deliver its messaging. The idea is to break down common digital scams into simple, relatable scenarios that people encounter in their daily lives online. The format leans on conversational storytelling across social media platforms rather than traditional awareness content.
The campaign’s central message is “Brake Lagao,” which translates to a straightforward behavioural prompt: pause before acting on any unfamiliar message, verify the source, and confirm the authenticity of the request or transaction before proceeding.
CoinDCX says the initiative is an extension of its Digital Suraksha Network (DSN), a ₹100 crore fund the company announced in late March 2026 to address digital financial fraud and strengthen cybersecurity awareness in India.
What officials said
Shri Nishant Kumar, Director of the Indian Cyber Crime Coordination Centre (I4C), Ministry of Home Affairs, acknowledged the campaign’s approach. He stated that cybercriminals are continuously adopting new and sophisticated methods to target unsuspecting individuals.
In a press release shared with The Crypto Times, he pointed out that “I4C has consistently emphasised the importance of collaborative efforts involving government, industry, and civil society to build a cyber-aware nation. Initiatives such as Satark Rahe can play an important role in taking cyber safety messages to a wider audience through simple, relatable, and engaging formats.”
He added that initiatives such as Satark Rahe can play an important role in taking cyber safety messages to a wider audience through simple, relatable, and engaging formats.
Sumit Gupta, Co-Founder of CoinDCX, said that awareness remains one of the most important tools in combating digital fraud, and that was the thinking behind the Digital Suraksha Network. He noted that cybercrime is a challenge that no single organisation can solve alone, and that government and industry need to work together to educate and empower citizens.
Background: What led to this
The Satark Rahe launch comes roughly two months after CoinDCX announced its ₹100 crore Digital Suraksha Network in March 2026. That announcement came days after the brief arrest of co-founders Sumit Gupta and Neeraj Khandelwal in a fraud case tied to a fake website (coindcx.pro) that was impersonating the exchange. A Thane court granted them bail within 72 hours, observing that no prima facie case existed. The complainant later confirmed he had no grievance against the founders.
Since then, CoinDCX has taken multiple steps under the DSN umbrella. The company earlier co-launched the Cyber Surakshit Goem campaign with Goa Police, conducted blockchain forensics training sessions at the Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel National Police Academy (SVPNPA), and engaged with I4C on training and collaborative work.
The company has also claimed to have identified over 1,200 fake websites impersonating its brand between April 2024 and January 2026.
The bigger picture: India’s Cybercrime Numbers
The timing of the campaign is not incidental. According to Ministry of Home Affairs data reported by ThePrint in February 2026, Indians filed 28.15 lakh cybercrime complaints in 2025, a 24% jump from 22.68 lakh in 2024. Total financial losses stood at ₹22,495 crore, with investment scams alone accounting for 76% of the money lost.
The I4C, which operates under the MHA’s Cyber and Information Security Division, has been scaling its efforts. It has blocked fraudulent transactions worth over ₹8,031 crore since its inception and worked with banks to flag over 18.43 lakh suspect identifiers and 24.67 lakh mule bank accounts.
This is not the first time I4C has partnered with a private entity on awareness. Earlier, Federal Bank and I4C concluded the ‘Twice is Wise’ campaign in January 2026, which reportedly reached over 9 crore citizens during its six-month run.
What comes next
CoinDCX has not disclosed a detailed rollout plan for Satark Rahe beyond its social media-first approach. Whether the campaign scales into offline outreach or remains limited to digital platforms is yet to be seen. The company has said it will share more details about its DSN activities in the coming weeks.
For now, this is the latest in a string of moves by CoinDCX to position itself on the side of cyber safety and user protection. The exchange has had a turbulent 12 months, with a $44 million security breach in July 2025, its founders’ arrest saga, an Enforcement Directorate probe, and multiple senior exits. Whether the DSN and its sub-campaigns like Satark Rahe translate into real impact will depend on execution.
