VALR, South Africa’s largest cryptocurrency exchange by transaction volume, announced the launch of the Garrington Capital USD Private Credit Token (USDPC) on its platform. This is the only exchange in Africa to offer this innovative product. All VALR clients can now access USDPC, a yield-bearing cryptocurrency asset that represents a tokenized investment in the Garrington Private Credit Strategy (the “Strategy”), which is run by Garrington Capital.
The Strategy invests in senior secured, asset-backed private loans across North America, aiming for 8–10% annual returns. Issued by RainFin, the token provides stablecoin holders and investors with diversified, low-correlation, and risk-adjusted income and currency risk protection.
USDPC, once exclusive to VALR’s institutional clients, is now available to all via VALR’s OTC desk. VALR is also building the VALR Invest platform to simplify USDPC transactions and launch new financial products soon.
Farzam Ehsani, Co-Founder and CEO of VALR, stated, “We are thrilled to bring USDPC to our clients, bridging the gap between traditional finance and the crypto ecosystem.”
He added, “This product underscores VALR’s commitment to providing more people around the world with access to financial products that have traditionally been highly exclusive, and offering innovative investment solutions that truly empower our customers.”
Garrington Capital, which has invested more than $6 billion since 1999, powers USDPC. As of June 2025, it provides a strategy with a 10-year track record and a three-year net annualized return of 10.70%. The portfolio’s 105+ diverse, primarily senior secured, and asset-backed loans are geared toward capital preservation.
Toreigh Stuart, Managing Director at Garrington Capital, stated, “This launch reflects our commitment to expanding how investors access private credit. While our strategy remains grounded in discipline, we are proud to partner with RainFin.”
By utilizing its proficiency in fractionalizing and tokenizing debt instruments, RainFin, VALR’s tokenization partner, is instrumental in introducing USDPC to the market.
Sean Emery, CEO at RainFin, stated, “RainFin is proud to partner with VALR in democratising access to institutional-grade private assets through tokenisation.” He further added, “We’re opening doors for investors across Africa and beyond to participate in high-quality, yield-bearing opportunities that were previously out of reach.”
