Solana Co-Founder’s Sensitive ID Leaked via Migos Instagram

Solana co-founder and President of Solana Labs, Raj Gokal, became the latest high-profile victim of a data breach when his personal information was leaked via the official Instagram account of popular hip-hop group Migos.

The Instagram account, with over 13 million followers, appeared compromised late Monday, posting seven images showing Gokal’s sensitive documents, including unredacted photos of his driver’s license and passport.

Thanks for actually blurring the personal info unlike every other account on CT.

Think Raj’s personal accounts got social engineered and they tried to extort him for funds with the PII obtained. Guess he didn’t pay so they started trolling and posted it after they compromised… pic.twitter.com/Cj2a2yAFa6

The leak included pictures of what appears to be Gokal’s wife holding her driver’s license. A post shared Gokal’s phone number and encouraged people to spam him with calls.

In another post, a message warned, “You should have given the 40 BTC,” suggesting that the data might have been sold if the ransom wasn’t met. At the end of the process, the hackers posted a link to a Telegram group chat where they could talk.

The hacked posts were up for more than an hour before Instagram took them down at 12:12 a.m. on Tuesday. On May 21, Gokal used his X (formerly Twitter) account to alert people about repeated efforts to hack his email, social media, Google, and Apple accounts.

After a series of celebrity and influencer account hacks, the attackers used those accounts to promote fake cryptocurrency scams to their followers. This case reveals that crypto leaders are at greater risk of social media hacks, so better security is needed.
