In a highly anticipated event for crypto enthusiasts, Tigran Gambaryan, the Head of Financial Crime Compliance at Binance, is set to share his story of spending over eight months in a Nigerian prison over tussle between the exchange and the government of Nigeria. Tigran will be speaking at the DC Blockchain Summit in Washington D.C. on March 26.
The session by Tigran, titled “Fireside Chat” will be moderated by Michael Gronager (Founder, Chainalysis), and it will focus on the emerging challenges related to industry compliance policies and Tigran’s own story of getting trapped in a prison in Nigeria in 2024.
Tigran was serving as Binance executive in Africa when he was first invited to Nigeria for a meeting with government officials and later arrested on money laundering and tax evasion charges.
Tigran has accused the Nigerian government and officers of DSS (security services of Nigeria) of trying to extort $150 million from Binance by making him a scapegoat. Meanwhile, Nigeria has dropped money laundering charges against Tigran but have maintained that Binance has conducted unreported crypto transactions worth $26 billion from Nigeria.
The Washington D.C. Blockchain Summit attracts major leadership figures from financial industry regulators and crypto professionals who pioneer industry changes. The Washington DC Summit expects Gambaryan to deliver an important message this year since his extensive expertise in financial crime detection and compliance enables him to provide essential insights into cryptocurrency regulation and security matters.
This event represents an opportunity that anyone with cryptographic interest and compliance dedication should never miss.
