In a recent tweet, Ethereum founder Vitalik Buterin said that Ethereum needs new people, especially young ones, who believe in the original ideas behind blockchain technology.
In a recent tweet, he stressed the need for fresh minds who share the cypherpunk vision, which is focused on decentralization, privacy, and freedom.“What Ethereum needs is a lot of young blood who share the cypherpunk vision.” He said it in the tweet.
He said that many early Ethereum pioneers have become” jaded”, which thereby places this now on the shoulders of the next generation to steer the network.
Meanwhile, the Ethereum Foundation (EF) has recently been undergoing major leadership changes.
Vitalik mentioned in a Jan 18, 2025 report that these changes have been happening for about a year. Some are public, while others are still in progress.
The EF is also working hard to fast-track its development and, at the same time, make sure that the core values like privacy, open-source development, and resistance to censorship remain central.
In September 2024, one of the company’s lead researchers, Danny Ryan, left after seven years. In January 2025, Hsiao-Wei Wang joined the EF leadership, contributing her experience in Ethereum Layer 1 research and her early work on sharding.
Buterin assured everyone that the EF would not deviate from its core principles or become a central authority. Instead, he welcomes people who have ideas to start projects of their own.
